This bar looks alright from the outside but, in reality, it's a mediocre restaurant and drinks don't have anything more special than its cousins next door or located in the same street, which are bars with the same mediocrity, tourists traps, non-quality drinks with high prices for drunk alike folks that fool with happy hours offers. While the drinks (bar) and service personnel is fast and nice, we did not eat at another place because this place looked much more promising from looking at the menu online. Truth is the food is tasteless, not even worth the tag of an overpriced hangover bite, chips and sweet potatoes burnt and a carbonara that pretty much tasted the same as the oil used for frying the chips. Everything looked overheated microwaved food. Good thing is that possibly this establishment is not worse, nor better that the rest of the tourist traps on the front of Sliema ferries street. Do yourself a favor and go to another area or restaurants or a smaller bars in the island, any city council's Kazins will serve you better, cheaper and with greater quality drinks, and foods, should they serve any, most probably they will be of greater quality for the price you pay on the latter.
Note to the establishment: do not bother in writing an excuse, this comment is about the reality of the profit trap you have behind the counter of your establishment. How is it possible that your sweet potato fries taste the same as the carbonara sauce and your skewers' meat is as dry as a day in the desert?? For the prices you charge, the least expected is that everything is cooked on the spot and the quality is real. You're lucky you found a good location, because if you depended on the quality of you products, you'd be out of business in no time. My only recommendation is that you forget about location and work on becoming a real and trustworthy establishment, with well paid staff which will benefit all, including you if you think about. Visiting your bar is a bad, bad publicity to the rest of the island honest businesses, because it really make think twice about visiting...
Read moreUnfortunately the experience did not live to the expectations. Me and one friend had dinner last night and based on the previous reviews we expect something good but no.
First of all, even though more than half of the tables were empty they only allowed us to sit in a small table. We explained that we will have dinner but they insisted that we should go to the small one since this is for two people. You will see in the photos that we barely could fit to eat there.
Second, we order two burgers and one entree, cheese churros. The New York burger unfortunately was not good. The cheese sauce had a very weird taste and texture. From the photos you can see that it was like a sauce that was there for a while before serving. I have some to my friend and she agreed that the taste was very weird. I also informed the waitress at the end for that.
Thirdly, we ordered water that never came. At the end they asked as if we still wanted but it was to late. I need to go home immediately since I didn’t feel well for that cheese sauce. I felt sick all day last night. This ruined for sure my whole weekend.
I will give two stars only for the prices and the fact that one of the burgers was good. I don’t recommend this place for food. Maybe a quick bit while drinking, but for food they need to...
Read moreWe had been there several times in the past and liked it much at the time, specially for the cocktails and burgers. We even spent our first New year's Eve in Malta there, as it was also sufficiently relaxed to have our teenager children enjoy the food and chill music with us. We rated it 5*. We wanted to share our past experience when a family member came to visit in November 2023. We realised that there must have been a change of owner because of changes in deco, chairs, tables, menus, etc. We gave it a try with high expectations. Unfortunately they were not met. The cocktails were quite random, and not as flavoured as those that used to be served. Also big disappointment with the burgers. We were not asked the cooking level for the meat and that would not have been an issue if the meat had not been overcooked and dry. The fries were limp. There were only tables with sofas inside. What seemed to be nice and cosy at first was actually not very comfortable when being there to have supper. The tables are too high when sitting in the sofa (I am 1.65m). This gives you the impression of being a 3 year old child eating on an adult chair at a table. The music was nice, but a bit too loud inside. Won't go back to the Black Sheep anymore,...
