Rumour Bar & Kitchen — Restaurant in Sliema

Make sure to double check the bill when you pay, the waiter charged me 10% more without asking me! We ordered two drinks and because it was less than 10 euros(5.25euro), the waiter said we can’t pay by card(I have been living in Malta for almost a year, never had problem paying by card regardless the amount.) Since we didn’t have cash on us, I asked him if I can order the wine and take away since we were leaving. The wine I ordered with 50% off was recommended by the waiter who took our order at the beginning. When I paid, the waiter didn’t mention at all about tips, it’s not like I don’t understand English. We were sitting there for an hour, there were three different waiters served us and one of them doesn’t speak much English at all. If I think the service in the restaurant is good, I will tip with pleasure. It’s not about the amount of money I want to argue, is the attitude from the guy who charged us extra without asking. I asked him to check the bill and it showed tips for 10% on the receipt. He said thats the extra fee for take away(never heard) We were not informed in advance. Terrible service! I don’t recommend this place. We waited for about 20 minutes to get our food. When we revived or food, the chicken burger was cold, literally cold to a point where the included cheese wasn’t even melted. My burger(standard) was ok, it wasn’t any good, but wasn’t bad either. When we told the waiter that the food is cold, he just took it without saying anything. I ate my burger, and after like 10 minutes he came back with the SAME burger that they just warmed up in I guess a microwave. Heating up a burger is a bad idea, but it was just bad, salad was nasty as well as basically everything. To make things even worse, the burger was still cold! My burger had also a big chunk of salad that is presented in the picture. At the end, the waiter just casually waited for another 10-15mins for me to pay. Good that he took of the chicken burger from the receipt, but still horrendous… Important to mention that my girlfriend didn’t eat for the whole day and was really hungry so extra 40 minutes wasted wasn’t good for her. The MANAGER has zero social skills and customer service. We specifically came to this bar/restaurant as a family because we really wanted to have a game of darts. We had difficulties getting the game to work and asked several members of staff to help but they were pushed by the manager to serve other customers instead of helping us (also customers). When we asked the manager to help he said he didn't make money from the game and wasn't interested, we lost all the money we pumped into the machine. We came specifically for this, ordered drinks, ordered food and paid 118 euros. When I confronted the manager about this problem he basically waved me off with his back turned. Thank you to the waiters and bar staff who tried to be helpful while worked under this tyrant.
