Disclaimer according to James, who I’m assuming was the manager, he said the waitress was at the end of the training period which we didn’t have a problem with whatsoever, everyone has to learn.
We arrived to the restaurant at 8pm (which is relevant) But one we ordered and the starter eventually arrived, the Bruschetta was absolutely drowned in oil (pooling off of serving plate). I also found two hairs in the tomatoes which were on the bread.
The main dishes took way too long to arrive despite the waitress saying they were on their way several times. I got the chicken souvlaki and my boyfriend got the steak (medium rare). The chips which came with my main were stone cold, I asked to get fresh ones which took 20 minutes to arrive. When they took the chips, the pita bread that came with the meal was also taken. The chicken was only warm. The part of both of our meals that had the hottest temperature was the pepper sauce from my boyfriend’s steak. Everything else was warm if that. Some of his chips were even raw in the middle and the vegetables which were roasted were stone cold. He could only eat half of his steak aswell as the rest was mainly fat ( obviously this can’t completely be controlled, it can be hit or miss when ordering steaks)
Another waiter came by and took our empty wine glasses and without asking how everything was or if we wanted refills he just walked away. We also heard the other waitress in training ask the couple beside us if they were not going to leave a tip ( after they were given the wrong main course???!!) Both of us have customer experience and waiting experience and we both know this is a no no as it comes accross as cheeky.
James did ask if we wanted a free coffee or shot on the house however at that point we had been there for two hours and we just wanted to leave as we had a terrible experience and I was beginning to feel a bit nauseous...
Read moreOne star is for the waitress, she was really nice
I ordered the Greek salad and the fries with Feta Oregano and Zaziki.
The vegetables in the greek salad were really blend, they didn’t taste fresh. Also if they used any olive oil, I didn’t tasted it in the salad. The feta cheese was okay, but not as good as in Greek. (It tasted like feta cheese I can buy in Germany)
The fries with feta oregano and zaziki: (price 8.90€ you get one very small portion that doesn’t fit the price or taste at all) The fries are normal fries from the fryer, they were a bit soggy. Also they forgot to bring the zaziki, the feta cheese was crumbled over the fries, but it wasn’t special (melted or a little bit heated).
The thing that disappointed me the most was the zaziki. It tasted like sour cream with some herbs. But it isn’t near the same taste as zaziki….
And to round things up the 7up they brought me in a glass didn’t taste like 7up..but I honestly don’t know what it was.
My conclusion for these two meals is that it didn’t taste good (it was not Greek and authentic) and that it was way to expensive for the portion and the quality that they had)
I am sorry for the waitress, because she was nice but the food was really a big...
Read moreI don't know what it is with Malta and 4/5-starred reviews for every restaurant that serves middling food. For good food, I recommend instead heading to Gozo (Masalforn for example) - or just anywhere outside of Sliema. I guess the tourist food experience has taken over Malta. To start, I ordered a focaccia. They should simply remove that item from the menu if they cannot cook. What they served was a dry, burnt, thin pizza crust that I did not even register contained any rosemary at all. The server even told me it was basically a pizza dough, but not until after it was served to me. This had nothing to do with a focaccia, which first of all contains more yeast than pizza dough and is left to rise a few centimeters. A little girl in my family cooks a better focaccia than what this place dared to serve me. Then they served me a rabbit stew with so many bones and sinews it was basically inedible, with a side of soggy potatoes and accompanied by lukewarm wine. When I ordered it, I was told the gravy was to die for, but it turned out to be a quite basic, bland tomato sauce of some sort that I have made better at home. It was also super expensive for what you got. The only good thing was the service, which was cordial...
