la cabane de Jules — Restaurant in Isle Mauritius

Have been there while being a carnivore as well as after reverting to vegetarianism. The food is not only exceptional but genuinely surprising by its ingenious presentation. My only complaint ever would be the excessive prices but that is justified by the unimaginably high real estate prices: prime location in Grand Baie, less than 50m from the beach! The décor doesn't seem like a décor until you start paying attention to it: I want to know who decorated this place so I can hire him/her someday! La Cabane de Jules is located next to a busy street forking out from Grand-Baie's main road so don't expect the place to be quiet. The food is however delicious. The vegetarian césar salad and the vegetarian pizza are highly recommended. Although steep food prices almost always result in a lesser score from me I am awarding La Cabane de Jules with 5 stars because of the food quality, the ingenuity behind the food presentation, the comfort and décor, and the location. What an unexpected find. This is an absolute gem! There is not a single thing we ordered that wasn’t good. From the tapas(starters) all the way to the main dishes (both seafood and meat options) were really good and tasty! And the drinks hit the spot!!!… The Music was…👌🏽🤌🏽🤩💃🕺🏽 Definitely looking forward to my next time here. Only thing that sucked was that it took us too long to discover La Cabane de Jules 😁… must try the tiramisu, you will thank me later 😉

If a tourist stay away.

1 Looked at the cocktail menu prices, they were as expected. My partner paid as we were leaving as we were in a rush (see 2) and the total was alot more than expected.

2 One of the DJs came to us (group of 6 tourist) asking if we wanted to go to a nightclub. He told us everything was free including drinks and not just one nightclub, but two. To get there though they would have to drive us, as it wasn't walking distance, in the 5 car that were going. Of course we made a run for it. I dread to think what what have...
