This is one of the nicer and pricer restaurants in the area but the price is worth the quality and space. It's very clean and well kept! The Passion smoothie was simple with just passion fruit, orange and water and it was amazing! It was so refreshing on a hot day. I came back the next day for the Detox juice and tuna tartar appetizer which looks amazing but the tuna could have been fresher. If you're from the States, you may think this is similar to the Spicy Tuna Roll from Yard House but it really doesn't compare. I'd highly recommend and if the juices and smoothies. The waitress, Claudia, is very sweet and also speaks English! They take cash and credit card here.

Stopped in for a cocktail and a card game and we're very pleased with the atmosphere and vibe. The drinks were EXCELLENT! We each got a mojito (strawberry and kiwi) and it was very fresh and made with real fruit that were pretty sure they chopped and juices right there. My wife got a mojito maracujá later- I stuck with the fresa and kiwi since it was so good- but the passion fruit was literally SO fresh I wished I'd had that too. We decided to have a snack and ordered the brocheta mixta (kabobs) and everything from the presentation to the taste was awesome! Definitely come visit this spot!!

We ate two times at Ajal. First time diner during our first night, and the second time breakfast at our last morning in Bacalar. The food was very good, and there were good vibes aswell during both occasions. An extra plus for the owner who personally helped me (without having any benefit from it) getting some extra cash when there was a problem with the ATM's in Bacalar and we were in need. (For the record; in Ajal you can also pay with card!)

I had a terrible experience, it was like a nightmare … Valentines dinner , we booked online for 4 person as a double Valentine dinner date. The worst service I had experienced soo far in my stay in Mexico. The food from the chef lady ( the only person who worked in the kitchen next to the bar) was okay, but two waiter one gentleman and one lady who where really unprofessional, two of us received the main course and the other two was waiting for the other two main to arrive obviously to eat togheder as the couple do in the Valentines dinner date. What happened … the food after 20min aprox. still didn’t arrived. The two front of house person disappeared; after verbal complain and seeing the disappointment and frustration they offered us a portion of fries … the other two main still didn’t arrived. The waitress served this portion of fries like this: “ Enjoy this fries is free” After 25-30min still the other mains did not arrived and we finished ours. After sharing our dissappintment to the gentleman waiter; he called someone on the phone and had on the line with this person for 5-8min at least. After waiting our bill and begging to cancel the other mains as we where about the go and have dinner in another place. Paying a 1900peso on Valentines day for this experience is not worst here, the sad reality is this place shoud not be open and ruin other peopels stay in Bacalar. So sad it can exist paces like this, we left really disappointed. We walked 3min next to this restaurant we found a lively, charming Italian restaurant where our night and mood had been...

Don't be fooled by the cute lights!

Terrible service and horrible food. The chicken brochette was burned and dry. I couldn't even pierce my fork in some pieces. The potato's however were still quite raw.

It was the slowest waiter on earth. We had to wait 15 minutes just to get a coke, while there was just three tables filled and no one else had ordered yet. The waiter was only watching movies on his phone. Even when he did saw us waiving, he nodded to us and continue to ignore us until my husband finally got up to get him.

When we did finally get the check, it was of the wrong table, even though there were only three tabled filled.

Then, while staring at us getting our money out, (which I though was pretty rude) he dropped the plates. He just left the uneaten food lying on the ground and started to move on to other tasks...

Just go to any of the other nice...
