La Kinta Café Bacalar — Restaurant in Bacalar

I am giving just three stars because we were looking for good coffee and I specifically asked if they knew how to prepare flat white. We are horrible coffee snobs, so YMMV. 😊

The coffee was very badly prepared: stale grounds (pre-ground, not “fresh” from the hopper) and shots that they let run for a minute! We tried the flat white (to mask the bad preparation), but it was unbearably bitter and way too milky (little foam, mostly milk). The foam wand is not cleaned after preparation and has a brown layer on it. 🤢

The waffles are ok, very sweet and not really warm, but quite decent. Service was ok as well and it was nice of them to remove the coffee from our bills (without us asking) after we pointed out that they were not so good. Smoothies were ok, too, not too sweet,...

La Kinta became my "office" during my stay in Bacalar. I went there every day and appreciated the excellent working AC and the high-speed internet. It's the best internet you get in Bacalar at the moment (trust me I tested all cafes). Also the staff is so attentive. After a few days they recognized me and knew my daily order by heart. When I came into the cafe and was on a call already and had no time to even order, they brought me my green tea (coco, it's so good!) and my sparkling water right away. SOOOOO NICE. I very rarely give low rates to anything, but this staff derserves it. Food and drinks are good. But THE STAFF ignore u, they are pretending that they are doing anything at all, moving so slowly. Guy, who is taking orders, is inpolite, rude, each time takes only one cup of coffee to the table (really…)… I was working in a cafeteria, this staff is a total disaster. If the owner reads it, Please, change the people you are hiring, unless u want to ruin everything. It’s such a nice place and...
