Yerbabuena Smoothie Bar & Cocina Saludable — Restaurant in Bacalar

I recently visited Yerbabuena Smoothie Bar in Bacalar, after seeing its great reviews on Google. However, my experience was quite disappointing.

The wait time for my smoothie bowl was excessively long, clocking in at over 40 minutes. When it finally arrived, I was upset to find that it resembled more of a soup than a proper smoothie bowl. I had one spoonful and left the rest it was inedible.

To add to the disappointment, the toast I ordered was burnt and dry and the other meal we ordered came out wrong and had to be taken back to kitchen to fix. It was clear that attention to detail was lacking, which further detracted from the overall dining experience.

Another disappointment was the pricing. I paid 40 pesos for a lemonade. However, I was shocked to discover that an additional 50 pesos was added if I wanted it made with mineral water. 90 pesos for a lemonade!

The was the worst I have encountered in a long time. The lady serving us had a perpetually unhappy demeanor and appeared as though she would rather be anywhere else than serving customers. We had to specifically request menus and then ask to place our order, which further highlighted the lack of attentiveness from the staff.

I was quite shocked as all the other reviews seem good - maybe they were having a bad day? But i will def not be going back. I can forgive mistakes but bad service and...

I stopped by for a smoothie and snack instead of heading into Centro. The place itself is super cute…loved the arched windows and the refreshed decor.

The food was decent overall. The yerbabuena smoothie was refreshing, and the deli wrap was good. The açaí bowl, however, was just average and definitely overpriced (265 pesos).

Unfortunately, my healthy experience was very soured by a frustrating interaction at the counter. When there was an issue with my order, rather than simply correcting it, the woman behind the counter chose to argue with me about the ingredients. She insisted that I must’ve ordered it wrong or should have specified what I wanted, even though I ordered clearly. It felt unnecessarily combative with my partner and I. The whole experience could have been handled much more professionally.

Where do we start… we chose this cafe after seeing raving reviews on TikTok and google so we had high expectations. We ended up being the only ones in the restaurant and waiting 45 minutes for 2 smoothies and a yoghurt bowl, all of which weren’t as described. The tropical smoothie was brown, the green smoothie was watery and tasteless and the matcha bowl was missing half the toppings. They did provide 2 free smoothies for the mistakes. When paying, the amount was different from the menu and when questioned, the owner said the menu hadn’t been updated and the amount on the bill was what we needed to pay. When disputing this he proceeded to have a mental breakdown and run off. We managed to get it to the price that was stated on the menu after back and forth but cannot say I’d recommend...
