I've eaten here 3 different times while staying at PB resorts. I think it is definitely worth the slight upcharge for a few reasons... I think its the best extra charge restaurant on property (better than steakhouse for sure which costs more).
I have always received very high quality service here and and I think a lot of the items on the menu are very good.... and a few things are not good/need to be removed from the menu as they don't fit anyway (like the beef wellington) and the grilled new York. But I found the rest of their menu to be quite good. They also have good chef's specials. Is it the most amazing meal I've had in Cabo? no, but its really good and worth the experience.
This last time I went with a larger group of seven and we were guided through a mole tasting menu by all the chefs in the restaurant. every dish was very good and this was a unique experience. It was an extra charge to do the tasting menu but worth it in the moment... a cool opportunity I probably wouldn't be offered a Mole tasting menu anywhere else. got to try over 6 or 7 different types of Mole (had no idea there were over 50 in Mexico)
the tableside items they have are really exceptional (mainly the cocktail options).... I have seen the same mixologist for 3 years now and he is awesome. JUST ORDER THE DRINK.... its worth it. I've order several cocktail from him and all have been fantastic... the selection of liquor on the cart is all top self (mostly $150+ bottles of booze). Gives you a sipping glass of extra anejo to go along with your meal. Its not a cheap cocktail, but its the best cocktail on the resort and the best one's I've had in Cabo thus far. The Mexican coffee tableside is a fun experience with the fire show and a nice way to cap off the meal. If you love sweet coffee, you'll love it.
All in all - IF you are staying at a PB resort and want a slightly upscale date night experience without leaving the resort, go eat here with a reservation. I probably would not pay full menu price to eat here, but its great for PB guests. There's ton of great food in Cabo, but this place has a lot of value for...
Read moreWe had a good dining experience at La Frida restaurant during our stay at the Pueblo Bonito Sunset Beach Resort. The food was excellent, with a great variety of options to choose from. However, there weren't many vegetarian options, but we still found enough dishes to enjoy. The atmosphere was cool, with an artistic decor and unique ambiance.
One issue we encountered was the fact that the restaurant did not provide paper menus. Instead, they had online menus that were not mobile-optimized and were difficult to read. We had to strain our eyes staring at the screen of our phones, which ruined the mood of the restaurant. However, the attentive bilingual service more than made up for this inconvenience.
The bartender at La Frida, unfortunately, seemed not to know how to make good mocktails. Instead, he only offered fruit juices as an alternative. We had to ask for something more sophisticated, which was a bit of a disappointment. It's worth noting that non-alcoholic cocktails are a big trend, so it would be great if they could adapt and offer a more creative selection.
The surcharge on top of the all-inclusive package for dining at La Frida was not a surprise, as the staff was upfront about it. However, they tried several times to upsell us on things that cost more, such as cocktails and special entrees. This created a bit of pressure to spend more money, which detracted from the overall experience.
Despite these minor issues, we had a good time dining at La Frida. The food was delicious, and the cool atmosphere added to the overall experience. The attentive and bilingual service was a plus, and while the surcharge was expected, the upselling was not ideal. Overall, we would recommend dining at La Frida if you're looking for a good meal with a unique ambiance.
Read moreWhat an amazing dinner! This is the best restaurant within the Quivira Resort at Cabo San Lucas. Also the best resturant in all of Cabo during our four night stay. First, the staff are incredibly friendly and five star service. Second, the food is top shelf which may be your number one! We ordered and shared the Pea Soup with White Corn and Chili Flakes, the Jicama Salad with a Cilantro Criollo Pesto, for our mains we indulged with three mains for two mouths, the Zucchini Pibil Style Soy, Enchiladas with Duck Carnitas, and the Pork Shank Michoacán Carnitas Style. Of course I'd love to try the Grilled Rack of Lamb or the Herb Crusted Grilled Prime Rib. Next time. This is a private resort so on your next trip to Cabo stay here and enjoy this resturant or the 15 other resturants on the property, 8 different pools, 2 Jack Nicolas Golf Courses, tennis and pickle ball...
