La Lonchería Japonesa — Restaurant in Baja California

Made a 7pm reservation for New Year's Eve through the open table app. Received email confirmation and reminder email the previous day, asking to confirm I was attending my reservation; I of course confirmed and received a thank-you email acknowledging my confirmation. Got there 20 minutes earlier with my family, all dressed up, and was rejected as apparently they were not taking reservations through the app that day. I asked if it would have been nice to sync their reservation methods and was told that yes it should've been done but sorry. I received a reservation cancelation email at 7:20pm, meaning they do check. Then after fruitlessly calling more than six restaurants and asking on a few others that seemed open, we ended up going to Lucerna's K-tower Sushi En La Azotea and getting the best service, beautiful view, wonderful food with a courtesy dessert, no...

I liked the sushi at this place but I didn’t love it. The taste of the sushi was spot on, the vibe is eclectic and very welcoming. However the prices are elevated, which I don’t mind paying for high quality fish but the want to use kanikama in all the sushi rolls. Look at their menu. Nothing wrong with kanikama/ “imitation” crab/ white fish with starch and food coloring, but the place is so fancy and they use “imitation” stuff for everything. The thing about sushi is if you don’t like it, they can remove it. I asked for no imitation stuff and they gave me a dainty rolls with very little fish. I felt I was being punished for not requesting kanikama.
