If you're looking for tacos that hit the spot every single time, Tacos El Gordo is your go-to joint. This place is like the reliable friend who always shows up—except they bring tacos, which makes them even better.
Consistency is their middle name. Whether it's Tuesday at noon or Saturday at 2 a.m., the tacos are just as delicious as the last time you had them (which was probably yesterday). They've got some magical formula locked away, guarded by a salsa-spilling piñata, ensuring every taco is a masterpiece.
The menu is a taco lover's dream come true. From the juicy carne asada that whispers sweet nothings to your taste buds, to the al pastor that's been marinating in a secret blend of spices probably handed down from ancient taco wizards, they've nailed it. And let's not forget the adobada—so good it'll make you consider proposing marriage. The tortillas are fresh, the meats are flavorful, and the salsas pack just the right amount of punch to make you forget any worries (or at least make your eyes water a bit).
The staff? They're as friendly and efficient as a well-oiled tortilla machine. Even when the line stretches longer than a unrolled burrito, they keep things moving faster than you can say "¡Otra ronda de tacos, por favor!" They'll serve up your order with a smile and maybe even a knowing nod that says, "Yeah, you're about to be really happy."
In a world full of uncertainties, isn't it nice to know there's a place like Tacos El Gordo? A place where you can count on mouthwatering tacos that never disappoint. So, if you're in the mood for some seriously good eats that are as consistent as your favorite Netflix show autoplaying the next episode, head over to Tacos El Gordo. Your stomach will thank you, and you might just find yourself in a committed relationship—with their...
Read moreBy far the most memorable tacos of our whole trip, we ordered 4 pastor tacos, which were AMAZING. We got bar seats right in front of the spit meat. Greeted and served by the taco barista who managed the spit roast. He was super friendly and prompt, we threw in a tostado which was dry and stale so I’d avoid it at all cost. The smell alone from the meat was tantalizing. The juices and accompaniments paired perfectly together, had a little heat to it but delicious overall. I will mention, service from the cashier who seemed to be the owner was absurd. He was just a jerk, he saw us coming to close the bill and literally walked off without a word. Then seeing as we’re VERY foreign, we tried our best to communicate but he had a very off putting attitude. Thankfully a local was there to guide our way through. Tacos were bomb, service from him left a terrible impression. There's a ton of other locations which we’d happily...
Read moreWe used to come here without fail every chance we could ....when it was Tacos El Gordo. Stopped by again on my last weekend in Tijuana and noticed all the signage was taken down. Just blank. I asked about it and they kept vaguely insisting that it was the same owners but wouldn't say it's Tacos El Gordo. Upon my first bite into a taco de asada i knew ...was not the same. Meat was bland and not very tender. Tortillas fell apart and it was 100% not tacos El Gordo. I suspect they want to piggy back off the original clientele. It's MUCH more worth it driving just a couple minutes down the road to the other Tacos El Gordo. My new go-to. The best sit down tacos in TJ and the BEST mulitas de adobada. Que lástima que...
