Picked this place based on the good reviews unfortunately we neglected to see the many bad reviews of this restaurant prior to our visit.
We ordered the ceviche tostadas, the roasted pear salad, tomato bisque, short rib, and pork belly Michoacán style. The food was uninspired and simple, - nothing special. I asked for the short rib to be cooked to “3/4” or medium well, it came out rare.
The service was disorganized and chaotic. We were served with another tables plates and we had to flag the server down and ask her to take them away after she had quickly put them on our table and walked away without any explanation. She proceeded to pick them up and take them to another table. Later, a different server was seen walking around with a drink to multiple tables asking who had ordered the drink. Our silverware was taken away before we had finished our meal and she asked if we needed anything else before I explained we were waiting for more food to arrive.
Overall it was not the worst dining experience but it certainly does not live up to the highly...
Read moreExcellent dinner experience! I rarely ever write reviews because I am too lazy - but even months after having dinner there I am still dreaming about the Octopus Tacos (and all the other dishes I tasted there). First, the experience starts with a very friendly, but at the same time authentic, service. The staff is young, but knows their products. They recommended cocktails according to our tastes and enhanced our dinner experience with their perfectly timed presence (not too much, not too little). Second, the food is presented in an artistic way. Colours and plates are chosen so that every dish looks extremely tasty and modern. Third, but most important: the taste - just incredible! Temperature, spices, portions - everything is aligned in a perfect way. This makes for me a five star...
Read moreCostal provided one of the most charming, delicious and memorable dining experiences I’ve ever had in Mexico. The quality and presentation of the cocktails exceeded my expectations. Although I’ve overseen countless advertising photo shoots for a tequila brand, I was beyond impressed by the attention to detail with the recipes and elevated presentation of their craft cocktails. The “Flor de amor” was incredible.
Our starter plates of guacamole (with a side of grasshoppers) and tostadas were excellent. The service was attentive and accommodating with our attempts to converse in limited knowledge of Spanish.
The entrees were thoughtfully conceived with large portions of fish and complement flavors paired with sauces distinct to interior Mexico.
The achiote tuna dish was brilliantly paired with pineapple, and I’ll be attempting to recreate that for the...
