El Horla — Restaurant in Guanajuato

Best place we found in Guanajuato. We loved drinking coffee and chocolate frappes there and it was so peaceful and quiet we could hardly drag ourselves out. Getting our coffee from there for daily use helped us get up and out in the morning. Also they were the friendliest and nicest people – – helping us with our Spanish. Even better is the chef who makes the cakes and other food. I am especially picky about carrot cakes as so many other places have failed in making the perfect carrot cake. But not café Horla! Service was odd. The initial worker was nice but I'm pretty sure the owner was the rude one. Very dismissive. When my coffee was brought, I said thank you and he just walked off. Atypical for Mexico. Coffee is probably the best in Guanajuato. The shop feels like a burrow, it's small and a bit underground. Also, the internet is really fast!

Didn't give 5 stars because manual coffee methods took a very long time (10-15 minutes per coffee) and the lighting could be a bit better.
