The food at this place is authentic and well priced in comparison to some of the tourist traps on the main strip. I am a repeat customer here however had an unpleasant experience during my last visit, with my children. The service was great and we were treated in a warm welcoming manner until the bill arrived. The bill was itemized with the price of each item written next to it, and the total under the bill. However the total of the items did not equal to the total written on the bill. There was a difference of exactly 100 pesos, about 20% of the total bill. When I pointed out this difference, suggesting that perhaps there may be a mistake in the Math done, our server became defensive. He told me that I don't have to pay the difference if I am not happy with the service. I tried to explain to him my disappointment that 1)As a customer it is my right to decide how much of a tip to leave, unless a service charge is specifically stated, which it was not 2)The difference was not the 10% he claimed standard but actually 20% 3) The difference simply appeared on the total without any item explaining where it comes from (eg Tax, Charge, Service Fee...) Unfortunately the response I got back was one of aggression and arrogance. This caused confusion for my children and caused everyone a great embarrassment and ruining an otherwise pleasant experience. I will not be returning to the Loncheria again there are plenty of other places to eat on Isla Mujeres, such as Santo's Tacos in the...

Read moreMexican loncherias, much like cenadurias, are small family run restaurants that offer home-style cooked meals in humble settings. Usually , these places offer the tastiest, genuine regional meals at low cost and are a better alternative than fancy restaurants with bland , lifeless menus that cost too much and don't satisfy your taste buds.
The service staff at this particular Loncheria was very attentive but I was a little disappointed with the taste of the food choices.
I ordered a pork pozole hoping to indulge in a delicious version of this tasty pork stew but the pieces of pork were tiny and chewy , while the broth itself lacked flavor.
My dining companion ordered a chicken filet stuffed with ham and cheese and while some would call that dish, Chicken Cordon Bleu , this particular iteration left much to be desired.
Hopefully, as time goes by and the cook receives more feedback from the patrons, the food preparation will be at the same level of quality as the...
