Really sorry but the food was simply terrible. Popped over to Isla Mujeres for dinner on our last night before heading back to Cancun for a night out. Location was beautiful but that was the only positive and clearly the only reason they have any customers at all. We ordered fish tacos to starts which tasted like soil. Was expected amazing fresh fish with lovely fresh flavours.... erm.... nope. Had the coconut fish and the octopus for main. The octopus was beyond awful, completely over cooked and tasted like washing up liquid. The coconut fish was deep fried and tasted like horrible old oil. Staff were attentive and helpful but couldn’t do anything to rescue how bad the food was. The waiter didn’t seem surprised at all when we mentioned how bad it was. They knocked off one of the mains off the bill, which was helpful but still begrudged paying the rest. I love food and it’s just a waste of meal that should have been amazing. If I can save one person from a similar experience then this review...
Read moreWe arrived pretty late on a Sunday, group of 10. Good food, it took them a little time to serve one of use lactose intolerant because they had to clean the plancha to cook without butter especially for her and appreciated the effort.
Unfortunately they ruined the good impression they made on us. We weren't informed about the closing time so in the end we were rushed to pay the bill (we were with a couple of newly weds so we decided to offer them the food).
After the 3rd time we calculated the shared costs, we noticed a 1500 Mexican pesos (about USD 75 at the time) of extra, not clearly mentioned...
They simply decided to tip themselves with 20% of the bill... which is scandalous!!!
Tip is not includedi Mexico, when you are happy with the service you add about 10% really happy more... but they're not supposed to tip themselves !
If you go there, be warned and check...
Read moreWhat the lady said before me, this is 100% a tourist trap. Extremely sad and unfortunate that this was our first experience on the island. Fried calamari - tasted and looked like a cheap frozen bag you can buy from the grocery store. Octopus & El pastor tacos - absolutely no flavor. I also ordered a piña colada which was all foam (supposed to be a frozen drink).
The final straw was when my husband & I were reviewing the prices on the menu (again, first timers and have heard all the scammer stories) I guess the manager caught on, came over and slammed our receipt on the table to start explaining the prices to us…
Our waiter however, didn’t get his name, was very nice and helpful when deciding what to order. However, you couldn’t pay me to...
