Great view, great spot along Playa Norte. We used the chairs and umbrellas which are great for those days in the hot Mexican sun. They charged 300 pesos for the pair of chairs and umbrella which isn't bad if you're around for a while obviously.
The cocktails are pretty much 100 pesos across the board and beers 50. Pricy compared to anywhere else on the island, or in Mexico that I have come across, but it's about the location for sure.
The food isn't anything to rave about, but great for a day of drinking nonetheless.
Our server was nice, but that overly fake smiles nice that isn't genuine.
It's a tourist trap for sure and here's where the loss of starts come in for me.
We have been living in Mexico for a while now. So while we aren't the regular tourists that are here for a week or two with a big budget, we still seem like that when we want to do the touristy things.
I know this all too well, so I keep track of EVERY order and their prices.
I get the bill at the end, which INCLUDES TIP, but they won't tell you unless you notice. The way they write it makes it look like it's part of the bill even if you look at the paper.
I questioned the waiter and he said "it's a suggested tip", however it was not suggested and was actually expected. It's very clear when they don't make it a set percentage, they make it so it's not as easily noticed and rounds to a number that would seem similar to the amounts you would have spent.
How many people have they preyed on doing this after a day of drinking?
Also, the cocktails seemed to start off pretty strong tasting and they make a mention of it too... it's all about your perception. As the day goes on, the liquor seems to get weaker, even when they leave an hour between each drink.
I simply do not appreciate a tourist trap and would like to make it obvious to anyone planning on spending time and money here.
Overall, a great day on a beautiful, though...
Read moreGreat spot to hang your hat all day and enjoy the beach, sitting under the umbrellas sipping a drink and have a nice bowl of ceviche among other things. They have clean restrooms, and on Sunday they had a DJ, all other days they had different music from classic rock, 80’s, cumbia, and current music. We tried the fish ceviche, club sandwich, and chicken quesadilla - all great; same for the drinks! Jesus, Graciel, and David always took great care of us, and even when we got there later (noon) always found a spot for us and quickly moves us to the from to enjoy the view! Yes, there are plenty of spots to hang your hat but we felt very welcome from day one that we just decided to make it our permanent spot for our stay in Isla Mujeres. Definitely recommend this spot, great food and drinks comparable in price to all other spots by the beach, great beach and view, and most of all great service and attention from Jesus! A must try spot if you are in the Island and great spot to catch the sunset! Ask for Jesus and tell him Andy sent you and he will surely take great...
Read moreWe clearly didn’t get a chance to read the reviews before walking by here, we only had about 1.5 hours at the beach before we headed back to our boat, so we decided to take the first chairs we saw. The waiter told us it would be 50 pesos for the chairs, I thought that seemed low but knowing we’d only be there for an hour or so we agreed.
I ordered a piña colado but with little/less sugar, the drink was extremely sweet and didn’t taste strong at all. ($200 pesos)
When we went to pay and grab our things he said the total was $950. He said it was $750 for the cabana and $200 for the drink.
There’s no way we were going to pay the equivalent of $40 for the chairs we had our bags in for an hour while we swam.
Instead of taking responsibility for the mix up, he kept going back and forth to his manager and then offering us “discounts” and bartering for less.
I ended up giving him $200 pesos for the chairs and we simply walked away.
There’s too much competition on this beach for them to have such poor...
