I haven't eaten at every pasta restaurant in Puerto Vallarta but I have eaten at quite a few of them. El Bodegón de Pastas, hands down blows all of them out of the water!!! DELICIOUS!! We were there twice in early May. I was surprised to find out that they had been open for a couple of years already. How did I miss this place! We went traditional the first visit; spaghetti and meat balls in a tomato-meat sauce and cheese ravioli in a tomato cream sauce and two different empanadas as appetizers followed by an apple bread pudding/flan dessert (tarantella de manzana). The entire meal was outstanding!!! Our second visit we were a little more adventurous and ordered the sorrentinos (an Argentinian version of ravioli, round in shape) along with two different empanadas as appetizers. Once again everything was outstanding. Keep in mind, this is an Argentinian restaurant not Italian. You will not find your traditional Italian menu: no fried calamari, eggplant parmesan here. Don't let that worry you. Over 60% of Argentinians are of Italian heritage. This restaurant is a Bodegón, a restaurant typical of Buenos Aries that specilaizes in traditional, family-style , hearty meals. For El Bodegón de Pastas, this means FRESH HOMEMADE PASTAS! Don't miss this place while in Puerto Vallarta. Make a reservation. Alejandro and Bruno make sure that delicious food along with great service at a reasonable price awaits you at El Bodegón de Pastas! I can't wait...

I am beyond excited to share this hidden gem that I just discovered! I rarely post restaurant recommendations, but tonight I experienced a meal so extraordinary that I simply must recommend this place. “El Bodegón de Pastas,” a cozy haven tucked away at Libertad #330 Col. Centro in Puerto Vallarta, has absolutely stolen my heart and taste buds. Run by the charming and talented duo, Alejandro and Bruno, this Argentinian couple has been delighting diners with their culinary magic for three years in PV.
From the moment you step inside, you are enveloped in the divine aroma of homemade goodness. I began my culinary adventure with their heavenly Argentinian Empanadas (Pollo and Champiñón)—each bite was a little piece of paradise. For the main course, I couldn’t resist their decadent spaghetti and meatballs (with freshly grated Parmesan on the dish, the table, and me! Lol), perfectly complemented by a glass of exquisite Argentinian Sauvignon blanc. And let me just say, the garlic bread is nothing short of magnificent! 😍
The intimate setting of this tiny restaurant, with only 16 seats, makes for an unforgettable dining experience. Reservations are a must, but trust me, it’s worth every effort to secure a spot. If you find yourself in Puerto Vallarta, do not miss the chance to indulge in the culinary wonders of “El Bodegón de Pastas.”...
Read morePerhaps the best Italian food I've ever had and the service is great. The folks running this place love what they do. The two times we had dinner we ordered the (1) milanesa Napolitana with potatoes, (2) the spaghetti with meat sauce, (3) Sorentino with creamy marinara sauce, (4) Sorentino with mushroom sauce, (5) empanadas with chicken and mushrooms, (6) house salad, and (7) caprese salad. All were excellently prepared with great ingredients. Best to make reservations.
Update: a year later we came back to Vallarta and had dinner here three times. El Bodegón continues to be excellent. We recommended it to people we met at the hotel, telling them the food was fantastic. They later told us our recommendation was spot-on. I don't understand the reviewer who accused this restaurant of being racist against Spanish speakers. I'm a Spanish speaker, made reservations in Spanish, and ordered in Spanish. I was always treated very well. You must make reservations and be patient because they have a small staff so even if there may be an empty table, they may not be able to accommodate you quickly. After all, every dish is cooked with care and...
