Tourist trap, this place is a scam. Our first night in Vallarta and this place disappointed us. It’s a nice decor but very dark. No A/C. Rude host. Inexperienced servers, almost dropped a glass of ice on my son in fact a few did end up hitting his back. One came over and offered a complementary salsa made at the table with a jar for tips which we felt awkward to not provide so gave him $50 p for the salsa and chips. Salsa was good I admit. We ordered chicken fajitas, some fish plate, chicken enchiladas and cochinita pibil. I would rate the food alone 1 stars and that’s because the salsa and beans were good everything else lacked authentic Mexican seasoning. The chicken fajitas were too smoky and very salty. They drizzle them with tequila at the table and place fire on them until the alcohol burns out and the flame comes down meanwhile they put on very loud music and dance with the plate full of fire on hand. well as the servers were trying to impress the table next to us that were there to party they added tequila twice. The chicken fajitas were smoky at this point. The fish portion was smaller than the palm of my hand. The enchilada sauce was not authentic I know because I’m Mexican and can recognize real authentic Mexican food. The enchilada sauce was a tomato sauce with no Chile and no flavor. Original sauce should be made more like a mole type of sauce made with chile mirasol or other Chiles not tomatoes and water that’s exactly what this”sauce” was. The cochinita pibil was dry and again no flavor. I’ve had authentic cochinita pibil and this is not it. Tasted more like dry meat cooked in a Chile based sauce with no seasoning. We were very disappointed in coming to PV and having this mediocre food at high prices. Our bill was $98 USD. Very overpriced food and service and on top of that they demanded $200 pesos for tips. After we had payed and left a tip they said it wasn’t enough that they needed at least $200 p to tip their waiters after we had already tipped the waiters and payed $150p for one song from the trio of musicians at the place. When we stated these facts, they said no that’s separate you still owe us $200 p in tips. Beware of this place. Tourist trap and scam. If you want authentic food visit the street vendors you are more likely to get excellent food and service for a very low price. Don’t be fooled by the appearance of the place and the “fresh guacamole made at your table” Food is not good. Service...
Read moreWe have visited this restaurant for years and have always been pleased. We've hosted large family/friends gatherings here as well as special date nights. We had been told by a number of people at our hotel that their experience this visit was anything but good - the food was salty, slow coming, service was terrible and they just felt it had changed. We decided to visit anyway, thinking that perhaps this was just a bad night. Imagine our surprise when they were right! We arrived to find 2 large parties and several smaller tables being served. We were seated in a corner and no one ever came back to see us for almost 10 minutes. Finally we flagged someone down who asked what we needed???!!! How about water and some drinks we asked? He was shocked that no one had helped us! Finally water arrived......wait, wait, wait and then our drink order. Again, we were left to sit for another 10-15 minutes and no one paid any attention to us, but we watched 2-4 staff standing around chatting and doing nothing. We finally waived someone down again and asked for salsa and guacamole - again this person was surprised that no one had helped us! They came to our table made both the salsa and guacamole and left us. 15 more minutes went by and no one came to see if we needed anything or wanted to order dinner!!! We flagged someone down again and asked if we might order dinner. The cochinita pipil was horribly salty and so spicy that my husband could not eat it and the shrimp crepe was almost cold. We flagged someone down again and asked for our check, which never came. We finally walked up to the front counter and paid our bill. The food was terrible and the service even worse. We were informed about the recent opening of their new restaurant down the street and wonder if they are paying more attention to that than this location. I sent an email to the management sharing our disappointment with them and never had a response. We...

First and foremost, I am a cook. I tense to judge food quit harsh because of it. So, everything I posted is only my personal opinion.
Cool out front, kinda like the movie Coco.
The server “Nacho” was nice and friendly with great energy!
Guacamole was house made and in front of you. So as the salsa. They were ok. You can have better with cheaper price.
Shrimp Mocajete, it was a hot Mocajete so that was good. However, the soup was mediocre, taste like tomato sauce without any “Mexican” flavor. (Any kind of chili sauce) The ingredients was ok. Good amount of shrimp and chorizo with panela cheese. But in my experience you should seared your sea food and sauté some onion, garlic to give some extra flavor, but no. It tasted just like sea food cooked in tomato sauce and put in a Mocajete.
Beef barbacoa. An other dish that was just ok. Again. It was usually marinated in Adobo sauce for at least 8 hour and you slow roasted until is tender and break when you fork it. The dish was tender, but almost to a point that is dry. The flavor was very subtle, not strong enough that you can tasted it.
Both dish came with black beans (a supper small jar. Witch is ok. Since I don’t really it them anyway) and one small dish of rice. (Like 3 bits) and tortillas witch I don’t think it was house hand made. (I know how hand make taste and looks like)
In conclusion, it was a place for tourists. With the price you paid you can have some really good tacos or other food on the street) I’m not sure how they got such high ratings. But it was definitely not a place for people want to...
