We went with a group of six people for dinner and four out of the six dinners we ordered were absolutely inedible. We ordered the Huachinango Zarandeado and the Huachinango al Mojo de Ajo and both were very dry and bland as bland can be. The other two dinners were Filet Mignon and Beef Fajitas and needless to say they also were bland. The filet looked gray and unappetizing and after one bite we knew the chef had no experience cooking steaks. We basically sent all the plates back full of food and brought the problem to the waiters attention and also to the female employee that came to charge my credit card and she acted like she was clueless to the problem and instead of taking any dinners off our bill, she asked if we wanted a free dessert. I understand that restaurants have issues from time to time but to not even address the problem correctly and brush you off is absolutely unacceptable. It was clear that charging the credit card was the only important thing to them.

This was our first time in Puerto Vallarta. The area was so clean and we went early enough there were not too many people. We chose to eat at El Patron on a whim and so glad we did!!!! The staff was absolutely accommodating and kind. Our servers Francisco and Ricardo were awesome!!!! They really went above and beyond for our little family. The drinks were great, we started with a Mexico hello I think is what they called it. Francisco was very knowledgeable and helped us navigate the menu. They were all very energetic and made us feel at home. The view was incredible!!!! I had the lobster and it was delicious. I did miss having lemons with it but that is ok. I am allergic to tomatoes and they made me my very own guacamole with no questions asked. The prices were just right for what we got. On the nicer side but that is what we were looking for. So happy to find this gem.

ZERO stars if possible. Let me tell you, that we don't do bad reviews because it's not typical but the 1 and only thing this restaurant is good at is bottled beer. The view from the balcony was the only reason we walked in. 1. Margarita had no alcohol in it. 2. My waiter was like ok here is the food, thank you bye. 3. The flavor of every single food items was as if there is a teenager in the kitchen just practicing his first day on the job. Bad filet mignon, nasty alfredo sauce, rice was overly spiced with who knows what, chips served with horseradish, meat over cooked on one plate, uncooked on the other. (Picture is after I asked for them to finish cooking it) My advice is don't eat here but have a beer or two, watch the sunset. Thats it!!Then go eat good food across the street or at literally anywhere else.

We decided to eat dinner here after seeing the beautiful balcony overlooking the Malecón. The Cadillac margarita was great! But it all went downhill from there. We noticed that locals or native Mexicans were getting served more quickly and the servers were super attentive to everyone else in the restaurant. Our appetizer never came out and we had to ask about it. And then our meals came out about 10 minutes apart from each other. The servers looked confused and when our food did come, 3 out of 4 entrees were incorrect. Meat was undercooked. Fries were still frozen on the inside. The servers were unapologetic and acted as though they did not understand what we were asking for to correct the situation. There was absolutely NO service recovery attempt. We just felt unwelcome. I'm probably the easiest going person, especially while dining. I was very close to just plunking down some cash for our drinks and walking out. But we stuck it out because we were hungry. They also tried to charge us for an item we never ordered or received and acted like it was going to be too much of a hassle to adjust our bill. My first horrible dining experience in PV EVER and we have eaten in many many places and have had wonderful experiences. Choose one of the other places along the boardwalk if you are a tourist, especially if you...

The only reason I gave one star was for the view. The service was less than adequate. The food was absolutely terrible. We all had Caesar salads. All of the salads had romaine lettuce that was rotting to the point that most of the leaves were black and slimey. My partners salad had almost no dressing, black romaine leaves, and the worst part, there was a large piece of plastic wrap mixed among the leaves. I called the waiter over and asked to speak to the manager, who I got was the senior waiter on duty. He was not very apologetic at all. He took the half eaten salads away, returned and said the manager would only give us a 50% reduction on two of the rotting salads. Unbelievably they were not the least concerned with plastic in our meals, and being served rotting food. I again asked to speak to the manager and was told that she was in the kitchen talking to the chef. We will never return to this poor example of a restaurant. This was the worst dining experience we have ever had in Puerto Vallarta. El Patron Viva Vallarta, you should shut your doors and take a course on how to be a restaurant that serves edible food, and how to be a manager that puts the customers satisfaction first. Shame on you....

The view attracted us to the restaurant. We started with ordering drinks. The waiter asked us what kind of tequila we wanted without telling us there was an 80 peso upcharge for the brand of tequila he recommended which we found out only after receiving the bill. The margaritas were so-so and didn't taste like there was any alcohol them. The food took at least an hour to arrive. My queso fundido was almost burnt on the bottom. I had to saw it with my knife. My Caprese salad had mushy tomatoes and dried basil (fresh basil is the norm). One of our party had a label sticker in her dish. Another person got the wrong meal and the another had the"ribeye" tacos which tasted like fried fat. They presented the bill on a piece of paper with a handwritten total minus the meal with the sticker in it. We asked for a detailed receipt they reluctantly brought us a printed one. This is when we discovered the extra charges for the tequila. In short the food and drinks were disappointing. Service was terrible. I would recommend eating...
