Raul is the owner of this superb new Japanese restaurant in Puerto Vallarta KENTA is his latest venture after also owning the wonderful taco revolution KENTA JAPANESE FOOD my new favourite restaurant. Small, intimate and comfortable smart decor with the most incredible Japanese mural along one of the walls. The waiters were amazing. Our waiter had no issue adapting a few items on the menu to accommodate my dietary needs ( a rare thing in PV) every dish we ordered was delicious , beyond my expectations We started with vegetable tempura , light , crisp and served with a wonderful sweet teriyaki sauce. That was followed a chicken and a vegetable curry ! The flavour was astounding. I just wanted to keep eating !! We finished with a tempura and seaweed wrapped sushi roll. Crisp , fresh and again, superb flavours. I will eat here every chance I get. Don’t miss this ! One of Puerto Vallarta’s newest treasures in...
Read moreSorry for the harsh rating but as a Japanese native, the food is not good. I hope the best is yet to come for this restaurant. I really wanted to like it. So here’s my constructive feedback: Shoyu Ramen: it was NOT shoyu ramen at all. It was a canned chicken soup with some soy sauce to add the flavor. No complexity of cooked soy sauce and the flavored scallion oil. And the topping was so crazy! Lettuce and Carrots on Ramen? No! You don’t need that. Just Memma, Nori, Egg, and scallions. Gyoza was too sweet. No Japanese eat gyoza that sweet. Karaage: it was not right. It should be listed as Karaage Don (rice bowl), if you serve it like that. Katsudon had a Tonkatsu sauce on it! That would NEVER happen in Japan unless it’s called Sauce Katsudon and in that case, there should be no egg omelet on top of rice with Tonkatsu.
I am happy your food is liked by your customers but, please serve a bit more authentic food....
Read moreI wish I could give this restaurant a higher rating, but I just cannot. But after all, it is a Japanese restaurant in Puerto Vallarta And there are not many of them. I did not try their sushi that I have to say upfront. Why only three stars? It’s because I felt like this restaurant was a fast food Japanese style restaurant. The food came very quickly. I had shrimp and vegetable tempura for appetizer . The tempura was done very nicely, but the sauce they gave me with it Had no taste at all. I had the pork Katsu with Japanese curry. The portion was adequate, but I definitely was not impressed. Very limited vegetables in a curry sauce with white rice. Unfortunately, I will not be back. I felt like the music was a bit too loud and too upbeat for this type of restaurant. My total bill with a Japanese beer the appetizer and the main course was...
