I was very satisfied with my stay. The room was very clean. The hotel was relatively quiet however there was some remodeling so a little noise during the daytime hours.
I will say this is not an Americanized hotel if you want an American resort this is not it. I did notice I was a little apprehensive upon arrival after examining myself and asking why I felt apprehensive I realized it was the style of hotel. In the United States many hotels of this style have become weekly rentals for the homeless or havens for drug dealers and as an American they are recognized as unsafe and that was triggering my apprehension.
The room had been pre-payed and I figured I'd at least stay the night and if I felt I needed a different hotel I would not be out much.
Every employee from the desk clerks to the housekeepers and maintenance employees were very friendly.
The room itself was very clean and insect free.
At night my room was quiet enough the bed was comfortable enough. The water in the shower was hot although it did take a few minutes to warm up.
I do believe the signs stating they are not responsible for valuables that could go missing at the strong urgence to use the lock box in their vault was a little strongly worded and possible added to my initial feeling they could have security issues.
This property is located in a convenient location for me. It may not instantly look like a touristy area for Americans depending on the route the driver takes but some very popular restaurants and art galleries are located on the same strech of this street.
This hotel is just around 3 blocks from the beach.
2 Blocks down on Olla Altas is a very popular tourist area with many tasty restaurants. A few nice places for drinks also. So beach shopping food drinks all close and the area is very safe.
I did not have any incident that concerned me nor did I witness anything that bothered me and I can't say the same of many American cities from Nashville, Las Vegas, New Orleans are all much less safe than this area.
I will say for Americans the process of check in is a little old fashioned since registration is done with paper slips not the computer. They do not keep remote controls in the rooms so at check in they issue a remote for the TV and Air conditioning which is different for Americans but common in Mexico.
If you have a sense of adventure and want to experience the area and not stay in an American resort eating American food everyday and having everything just the same as it is in America. Then you will enjoy this place.
The doors to the outside street do lock at night so if you stay out late you will need to ring the bell to get inside which is also a little different but adds to the security of the property.
At the time of my visit the restaurant that belongs to the hotel was under remodel so I can recommend the pancake house up the street for breakfast. Nearly every place I ate was delicious and no gastro issues to worry about for the whole week. I will admit I did use bottled water during my stay including for brushing my teeth as I remember the old saying don't drink the water in Mexico. Things have modernized and I'm sure the water is fine but some things stay with you.
Safe Quiet Clean Good location Affordable Rates
I think I have covered most of the bases but also the TV does have international channels including from the United States and Canada so you can keep up with news from home if you desire in addition to other channels that are in Spanish if you want to try to catch keep up with your...
Read moreYou will not sleep the entire time you stay here. I gave it a 3/5 because check-in and out were efficient and the team working there was kind. This is a family hotel that welcomes everyone. Do NOT stay on the ground floor. Mosquitos in the room on arrival, and I had to use bug spray to spray around the door. My room key deactivated on its own three times during a five day stay. The rooms are clean and minimal but that is fine by me as I don’t require much but what I do require is sleep. Again, ZERO sleep while staying here. The iron gate is clanging all night, the guests are loud late and often drunk and gathered in the courtyard. There are parrots in a cage on the ground floor that chirp nonstop. I could hear the TV in the next room the entire time I was there and when you finally fall asleep around 5-6am, a significant amount of children show up and start singing and running around the courtyard. Mix this with the cleaning people on walkie talkies and construction onsite along with the passing cars and trucks blaring music and you will need sleeping pills. The pool looked nice but I was literally so tired I never made it there. I can’t wait to get home from this vacation so I can rest. This was a good experience for me because it taught me that I need a window, I need quiet time and sleep, and I can never stay on a ground floor again anywhere ever. Looking at the prices after Orbitz booked me, I suppose I did get what I payed for. Oh, and I asked for a 4am wake up call last night. I had to walk back to my rooms so they could test the phones. They knocked on my door this morning because the phones actually didn’t work. I asked last night if I could get a taxi. They said they would call me one. This morning, they couldn’t get me a taxi and told me to walk four blocks in the rain to the nightclub district to get one. That was a nightmare. You will love the AC, hot water and wifi though. They have those three perfect. Location is perfect. Just get some sleep before you visit so you can...
