Stay far away from this place. Do not let the vacation reviewers or the pretty pictures fool you.

I’ve been coming to this place for several years and year after year, it has gotten considerably worse, both in customer service and quality of food and drink.

This used to be a great place years ago, and it does seem to get very busy, but don’t let the crowds deceive you. The food portions have gotten more expensive and are considerably less than they used to be.

They will tell you, they serve top shelf liquor, but it’s all bottom shelf, and watered down, with more ice in your glass than it took to sink the titanic.

Unless you come here ready to spend hundreds of dollars for watered-down booze and subpar food, you will not be a welcome guest.

On the other hand, the establishment right next to this place (THE SWELL), is a very well run, establishment with great food and great drinks. And the customer service is excellent. Unlike LaCarretta, this other place is always happy to greet you, and always ready to provide you with terrific customer service.

No, I have no relationship with either of these places, I’ve just been coming down here for a long time, and I know of...

I went with family, seemed like a decent spot. The person attending us asked what we wanted and he acted surprised/had a noticable scared reaction when I said I wanted crab. But more of like a "oh, shxt...she's ordering that" type of reaction on his face. (My mother noticed this right away before I knew anything was wrong) He then proceeded to take the order of the two other people then asked me what I wanted again, acted like he didn't know I already ordered 5 seconds ago. Received my crab, firstly the sauce taste is terrible but I love crab so I ignored it, but then bit into the meat and it was the most pungent, foul tasting meat I have ever tasted. I am a seafood lover and he just told us that maybe I didn't like the taste of crabs. Would definitely not recommend. I never write reviews, this is not to be petty, but to warn others that they really don't care at this place. SERVICE WAS TERRIBLE AND SLOW and that wasn't even the worst part....

This is a great beach restaurant. We went here on recommendation from some folks on beach. We weren’t sure we were at the right place until the man who would be our server asked if we are looking for La Carreta? He was wearing a logo shirt. This is nice because there are a lot beach vendors trying to get your attention

We were in a shrimp mood and ordered coconut shrimp, shrimp filled avocado, and shrimp quesadilla, chips and guacamole.

Coconut shrimp portion was freshly cooked and a generous portion. Shrimp quesadilla is highly recommended. The shrimp in avocado was my least favorite, but still delightful.

They serve drinks and food to beach chairs which belong to restaurant. If one wanted to spend a couple hours under beach umbrella and lounge chair, the food is reasonably priced.

This is another one of those businesses where you can tell the owner takes pride in the business by checking in on how...

2025 REVIEW - You can spend the day on the beach here, no charge. Just need to buy some food & drinks from them. Sergio has been here and next door as a waiter for years. Great service and cool breezes from the ocean. We even had White Chedda, the poet, come by and gave us one of his readings as a poet. The food is cheap and good too. 2025 REVIEW - Same good service with drinks & food. Run a tab and pay at the end of the day. Watch the vendors come by and sell you their wares.

For a beach restaurant in the very touristy part of PV, this is a great place to eat and chill. Superb fajitas with shrimp (pictured with almost half a pineapple), great service without feeling hassled, good prices for the area, and great margaritas. If you want to eat and drink on the beach with a normal-ish vibe, you can't do better in this area. It's not chichi or swanky, but it's solid. We'll be back.
