Derby City Burgers has moved to a new and larger location though with way less visibility and foot traffic behind the La Piazzetta restaurant.
ATMOSPHERE: The "new" digs features a larger covered patio than what they used to have along with some indoor seats. The vibe is a bit boring now. No music, no scenery, no noise.
FOOD: Mushroom & Swiss Burger What happened to one of my favorite fungus burgers?! There was no taste coming from the patty. Not even the piping hot fries could make up for that. Still a great deal for the portion.
Chicken Wings I opted for the 400 gram size which yielded 12 wingettes & drummettes, requested no sauce and a side of ranch dressing. Expecting plain wings, I received quite the opposite. I'm assuming the wings came to them already pre-seasoned in this overly salty blend of paprika and herbs, so get ready for a sodium overload especially if you add a sauce. On top of that they were crispy but over cooked and dry inside. And, instead of ranch dressing I received blue cheese. Pass.
SERVICE: Despite being slow, the service was anything but efficient and quite depressing. No one had smiles let alone a smirk. Sigh.

Read moreWent two days in a row as I was craving Western food after 8 weeks enjoying local flavors. I ordered the house burger and it was great. Burger cooked medium, juicy and a nice spicy flavour. The second time I made it a double burger. Little translation difficulty second visit. I asked for extra dip with the pickle chips.....they added twice the spice (kinda gross) but that was just translation problem. The fried pickles are fabulous and cut as chips instead of spears - the best ever. Service is very Mexican meaning in can be hard to get the bill. The focus is on not rushing you from the table so you have to be pretty direct about getting the bill. The place is hidden in an interior courtyard, hidden from the road and filled with expats in the know. Glad to be I. The know too. Also, the fry portion size here is what you expect instead of the mini portions alot of places dish up. Also, the million dollar peanut butter & Bailey's milkshake I had was worth...
Read moreThere are other places to go for a decent burger in PV, but the top of the food chain is still Derby City Burgers. The burgers are huge, the toppings are plentiful, the beef has a great burger taste that stands out from the toppings. I ordered 2 burgers and 2 Cobb salads.....That was a mistake....there is way too much food for 2 people. Classic Derby burger, loaded, Swiss & mushroom burger, and 2 Cobb salads ( omg these have EVERYTHING POSSIBLE ON THEM ) are enough for damn near 3 meals, For 560 pesos...... We could have easily split 1 burger and 1 salad and not been hungry. That would be 280 pesos. That's under $20 Canadian.....2 ppl can't eat at McD's in Canada for $20.....Taste, quality, quantity, and value..... Derby City Burgers...
