We stopped in for breakfast after years of walking by. I think I never stopped before because Johnny's Diner is just so...American sounding. I'm in Mexico, after all! Also, it sits in a very touristy area of town
My judgment was invalid. What a nice surprise!
I ordered a couple of eggs, scrambled with cheese and 2 slices of bacon. It definitely was not American style. Not sure what they do their eggs in this part of Mexico, but these were delicious!! Bacon was very tasty too, much more so than other bacon I've eaten around town.
My friend ordered a breakfast sandwich. She really enjoyed it and we were mostly impressed with the presentation. The sandwich was accompanied by finely sliced apples, mangoes and avocados, displayed very pretty-like.
On top of the tasty, good-looking meal, the waiter was awesome. Right there, at precisely the right time, for more coffee, never hovering but always available.
I didn't get a feel of diner on the inside, which is neither here nor there, but in the back of the restaurant they have a patio. It's actually a big courtyard between some buildings with a lot of greenery hanging down, kind of like a jungle.
Johnny's diner offers burgers, hot dogs, pork chops... Looks like a lot of American comfort food. Prices aren't too bad, a little higher than some, not as high as others.
So, now that we finally sat down and had a meal here, will definitely go...
Read morefirst customer waiting for them to open. Last to get my food. it was all cold . stale. no customer service. Will never be back. Disgusting place I'll never be the first customer any restaurant down here for breakfast because obviously they start off with yesterday's day old food bad customer relations bad manager rude said that the biscuit was fresh and it was definitely you can tell it was never a biscuit it was something they used on some mother dish I think eggs benedict. not a biscuit. cold eggs bad service. needs a new owner . she doesn't know anther thing about a restaurant business. very sad good luck. 5 people that will ever eat here...
Read moreThe food was good and reasonably priced. My wife drinks iced tea instead of coffee as coffee gives her heart burn sometimes. She will drink four or five teas at breakfast as I go through about the same amount of coffee. She was charged 45 pesos for every single iced tea that she drank. Usually in Vallarta you get free refills for ced tea. Guess it is on us for not asking, however they should tell people that they're being charged for every one of them. 225 pesos for tea at breakfast!? We felt ripped off. Not going back as Freddys Tucan does not charge for refills which makes breakfast more affordable. Plus their food and service is way better. When you try a new place some time you win and some...
