Slice & Smash — Restaurant in Jalisco

There’s a new burger stand in zona romántica that is the best I’ve had here in Vallarta!! It is still waiting for their sign, but it’s called Slice and Smash. He serves smash burgers and has a small wood burning oven for pizzas too! Located midway in the block between Francisco Madero and Aquiles Serdán, amongst a couple other food stands on Calle Constitución.

He starts with a couple of hand rolled balls of 80/20 hamburger meat that he pushes down flat onto the grill, creating a greater surface level of delicious caramelization. Simple divine!! Each burger is 2 patties with cheese in between. He also adds caramelized onions, then is served on a sesame seeded bun with all the proper toppings. He speaks perfect English so you can customize it any way you like!! And the prices are equally terrific! Burger is $85 pesos or $100 with fries. I want one now!!!

I haven’t tried the pizza yet, but several friends have raved about it!! They too are a bargain starting at $135 pesos plus $10 pesos per topping. Let’s support our new neighbor and fill our bellies with pure...

This is a stand on the side of the street. Saw it on the ride to my airbnb a few days ago. Was craving a burger.

The owners name is Jose. Overheard him suggesting to a couple that they order the burger with all the fixings (cheese, lettuce, tomato and their special sauce).

So I ordered the smash burger as Jose had recommended and when I tell you this was one of the best burgers I’ve had in quite some time. It made me question if past 5 star reviews should have been 5 stars compared to this.

I recommend ordering the smash burger as recommended. Wasn’t asked how I would like the beef prepared but I’m thinking it was made medium to medium well.

They have regular cut fries and steak fries. I order the regular cut. They were tasty, similar to McD’s fries. Admittedly so, McD’s fries are just a tad better but these fries were still a great choice.

Run, don’t walk! Excellent wood fired pizza and delectable smash burgers unlike anything else you’ll find in Puerto Vallarta! José really brings the comfort with his delectable meat patties, sliced cheese, caramelized onions, and pillowy soft buns grilled to perfection. Definitely order con todo and you can also jazz it up even more with sliced pickles, candied jalapeños or pickled jalapeños. You can also order with a side of shoestring French fries or potato wedges. The fries are crispy on the outside and tender on the inside. The pizza measures 12” or 30cm, is the absolute perfect texture of chewy and soft, and you can get in an assortment of topping combinations. I chose Italian sausage, mushroom and caramelized onion. All your food is made fresh to order. José shops and prepares every morning prior to opening so you can trust you’ll have the freshest ingredients. It’s a 10/10 from me. SMASH....
