This is the fourth time I've gone here and the food is always fresh, tasty and consistent. Fish and seafood are the specialty here and all of them can be served in many different ways; fried, marinated, in soup, cocktails or in other ways. The place has the look and feel of a dîner with stools at a long counter and a few tables going down the narrow passage from the front of the house to the back. No decorations worth talking about, it's all about the food. The servers are friendly, helpful and quick. The customers are a mix of working class locals and curious tourists willing to try something new in a very simple unpretentious restaurant. And they're rewarded for their curiosity with outstanding ceviches, cocktails (as in shrimp cocktail), soups and simply cooked but fresh and tasty fish. Soft drinks, homemade limonada and beer are available. Prices are mid-range. Unbeknownst to some, they have a larger dining room next door that has larger seating and is air-conditioned. You just have to try the unmarked door to the left of the open air entry of the main restaurant. What I really enjoy is sitting at one of the side tables and watching all the activity, especially behind the counter where 3 or 4 staff work in an space so narrow they have to pull in their stomachs to pass one another. They accomplish it all with great professionalism. I highly recommend this place, for the food and the cultural experience. By the way, get there early because they...
Read moreWe had a lunch in this place. It was not so easy to notice it first: the name does not stand out on the facade. They have though a blue umbrella sticking outside that is easy to spot.
The place is not a fancy restaurant. It is rather small inside with only several tables. The interior is very simplistic: white and blue-colored walls, simple furniture along the wall, the menu is on the wall.
We arrived in the afternoon, there were several customers. We ordered fish Yucatán style and coconut shrimp. Both portions were served with rice and a bit of salad. The food arrived in 15 minutes. We truly liked shrimps and fish, everything was very authentic and tasty. We paid 300+ pesos for everything. We could pay by card.
Overall it was pleasant experience, very fresh and tasty food, affordable prices,...
Read moreSolid place for a quick bite. I read it in a travel blog and I was starving after 5 hour bus, so ceviche sounded like a good idea. It was so much smaller than I imagined - pretty much a hole in the wall. I just missed the lunch rush. There was only 1 waiter, who was pretty busy serving all the tables. No frill, no fluff type of service - just what I need for a quick lunch - efficient and polite, nothing fancy.
The ceviche was fresh, again nothing extraordinary but solid food. The house made hot sauce is very spicy but flavourful. I ordered a medium mixto and it was more than enough for 1 person. Any more would’ve been too much. It’s probably enough to share by 2 if you want to try some other things. Overall, it did...
