I’ve never felt the need to write a review until now, but I need to warn others to stay away so they can actually enjoy a meal elsewhere. I will start with the pros: the service staff and chefs seemed sweet, and I’m sure had we stayed longer they would’ve shown more fine service. The overall rating is not reflective of them. The restaurant is loud with random Japanese themed tchotchkes/knick knacks—not my cup of tea but hey, maybe the food would still be good. Alas, when my tonkotsu ramen came out, my life honestly flashed before my eyes lmao. Piles of teriyaki chicken alongside a chashu pork covered in sauce. A fried gyoza too? Along with spinach and corn. An insane amount of inauthentic toppings to try and mask the soggy noodles and flavorless broth. My tonkotsu broth literally just tasted of pepper, I was in shock. And the shio ramen tasted only of salt—maybe they could’ve mixed the broths to make something better. I grew up learning to not waste food, so I felt very embarrassed to leave all that in the bowl but I truly couldn’t bring myself to have another bite. PLEASE spare your stomach space and money and eat elsewhere. This is in no way authentic, and even as an inauthentic ramen place, it doesn’t even taste remotely good. Read moreA cute spot with a warm feel. We were two and enjoyed flavourful steamed gyozas, and very good eel with miso soup and pickled salad. The shrimp and vegetable tempura, however, was not as light or crisp as it should be, leaning greasy and heavy, though still decent. Rainbow and salmon nigiri were fresh but lacked finesse. Tonkotsu ramen had a great broth and garnishes, but overcooked noodles. Dessert was a let-down — matcha mochis pushed out of their plastic in front of us and served as-is. Service was attentive, but sitting at the bar meant constantly looking back and forth between the staff behind us and those in front, as they kept interfering with each other — making for a slightly awkward but still...
Read moreThis is the worst bowl of ramen I've ever had. Shige should be embarrassed to serve this. There is nothing Japanese about the food besides the name. The Tonkatsu ramen was completely flavorless and the shio ramen tasted like they just put salt into water. They put chicken teriyaki as a topping. Everything was overcooked and soggy. Don't believe the positive reviews or the social media presence, this place spent all its money on marketing and fake reviews and none of it on food quality. This is the first time I've ever left so much food uneaten.
The staff and service was perfectly fine though. I don't blame them, just the owner / whoever came up...
