I’ve visited the Limantour location in Colonia Roma before, but this one had a much chiller vibe. We were seated right away, but unfortunately, that’s where the positives ended. It took forever to be acknowledged by a waiter, and even after getting menus, it took another 10 minutes to actually place our order.

The experience took a downturn when our server—who seemed very focused on upselling—told us we had to order a food item because it was a “rule” of the area. This instantly soured our visit. While we’ve encountered this in other bars around Mexico City, it felt especially inappropriate at a bar that prides itself as a Top 50 Bar in the World. Being pressured into a “minimum consumption” by ordering overpriced, mediocre food just felt greedy and unprofessional.

There’s no actual law about being required to consume food with drinks in this context, so this was clearly a tactic to increase profits and tips. To make matters worse, not every customer seemed subjected to this policy, as we noticed other tables without food or snacks. It’s disappointing and frustrating to see a place resort to such measures.

Licorería Limantour used to be one of my favorite bars, but after this experience, where the service was mediocre and the “mandatory” food order was just a greedy tactic, I’ve lost a lot of respect for the establishment. There are plenty of other bars in Mexico City that pride themselves on great service and drinks without using these...

I highly recommend checking this spot out. Some might find it expensive relative to the range of prices available in CDMX. I'm from NYC, so I don't actually care so much and I think the taste, quality, and vibe all warrant this. I'm not alone as the place was quite busy at 6pm on Thursday night. I met up with a Professional Foodie friend (like this is what she does for a living) for "drinks" before then going to 2 other meals for the evening. Drinks definitely enter the category of Mixology. As a tourist it's wonderful because they name the drinks after different areas of Mexico. I had a few, Xochimilcho (since I wasn't able to visit this trip) and a taste of like 4 or 5 others. They all definitely lived up to it. We ordered tacos and fries. I wasn't going to eat b/c I knew we were doing a prix fixe by specialty chefs later, but OMG, they were so good I had to. The tacos were delicious. The fries were a mix of sweet potato and regular. There were 4 dipping sauces that came with. YUM! Definitely recommend, especially if you're not...

I recently visited here and had a truly awful experience. The table was filthy, the music was unbearably loud, and the service was atrocious.

I paid in cash, but as I was about to leave, a waiter rudely stopped me in front of everyone, accusing me of not paying. I had literally paid just 10 minutes earlier. It felt like he was trying to scam me, assuming I wouldn't remember since I was alone. Thankfully, I wasn't drunk and could recall everything clearly.

What made it worse was his behavior—he invaded my personal space and even tried to touch me, which is extremely disrespectful. After wasting my time and causing a scene, all he could muster was an insincere apology. This experience was ridiculous and unacceptable. I doubt the professionalism of the staff and will never return to this restaurant !!!!! THIS IS RIDICULOUS!...

Good atmosphere and great cocktails. The mixologists definitely put thoughts into the recipes. However I wish there was more local flavor in the drinks given that this was in CDMX. I liked the duck tacos too, but the esquites were just okay. Friend also thought this place was overpriced ($15 for 3 tacos), but I didn’t mind. One catch is you’d HAVE TO order food with your drink even at the bar. They definitely did this to stack up the bill but I understand. Also most of the staff speak English. Only docking 1 star because the service was a bit slow. Our server seemed very busy, so maybe they were understaffed

I can only attest to the quality of the cocktails, and I have to say this place is great! We happened upon the Polanco location during mid afternoon on a Sunday, and the place was pretty empty. We opted for a seat at the bar as our main objective was to try the cocktails after a long day of walking. They have an impressive local liquor collection including lots of mezcal and tequila of course. The La Vicunca cocktail was my favorite, topped with dried fruit and hibiscus, it was just the right amount of sweet without being too much like dessert. Based on the cocktails, I would come here again.
