Hard to find - it’s located in the Hilton hotel. This place came highly recommended by a friend who knew CDMX very well so I was excited to try it. We arrived around 11:30am on a Saturday morning and there was a huge lineup. Good sign. We were told the wait would be 35 minutes but we only waited 25! We waited in Hilton lobby and used the outlets to charge our phones. The famous hot chocolate was a little overrated because I found it more milky than chocolate-y (I think that’s because the chocolate is bittersweet). They brought fresh bread for us while we waited for our food. We ordered the omelette with zucchini flowers and mushrooms. Incredible dish! Unique, flavorful and the corn cake with cream was the perfect starch to end this fish on. The lamb marinated with hot sauce maguey leaves was outstanding. It had incredible flavor and the additions of cactus leaves and guacamole was perfect to roll into little tortillas. When we ran out, they asked if we wanted more tortillas. The service was absolutely outstanding. I cannot wait to come back. Fantastic value and great place to try unique Mexican dishes.

We chose to eat at the cardinal closest to us, so it was the one in the Hilton. There was a long line to get in but it moved fairly fast. The atmosphere was great. Tons of people eating at this place. The atmosphere and food is very authentic. I would say it's worthwhile to go at least once. This place was great because we finally got a chance to try the conchetta, those large breads that everyone eats. Servers come by with trays of these breads for you to choose from. Anyway, the service was very atentive and everyone was nice. They had a huge choice of different types of eggs and other foods so it's really dependent on what you like. I think for us this was more of an experience type of a restaurant and I'm glad we came here. This is one place you don't want to miss. Great for breakfast or brunch.

Amazing experience 👌The food is all delicious 😋. We ate here several times due to the quality & fresh ingredients used on all the yummy meals. Location is super clean and service is on point👏. Our waiter “Magdaleno” was very attentive, he went above and beyond to make us feel welcomed and catered to. The fideo seco with chipotle sauce was great, the salmon with mango sauce, veggies and mashed potatoes were super tasty, the freshly baked conchas, bolillo and all the pan dulce served with nata to fill the bead with, the rich hot chocolate to go along with it were a big Wow 👏I also enjoyed the carnitas with homemade tortillas, the fresh fruit with yogurt, the guacamole with tostadas, the freshly squeezed juices. Thank you 🙏 to all the wonderful staff at this “El Cardenal” location. Had the best time❣️

Oh my gosh, run to this restaurant. Literally some of the best food of my entire life. The fresh made bread is the best bread in the world. Compares to nothing out there. They have their own farms, so it's their own milk and meats which makes a huge difference. The service was amazing, everyone is so nice. Food came out very quickly. Went for brunch, and everyone loved their food. Had barbacoa, an omelet with a little corn bread that was divine, and chilaquiles and hot chocolate and nata and the fresh bread. Location is inside the Hilton and there was a long waiting list but we were committed and was worth it ! I believe they only take reservations after 12PM into dinner

My favorite location of this historic Restaurant in Mexico City. This location has modern surroundings but to me it has superior service compared to the ones in the Centro Histórico. It's suggested that one make reservations because an estimated 30min wait can easily turn into 1 hour. I think it's because aren't in hurry to leave the desirable surroundings after paying their check. The price can't be beat for the upscale service and gorgeous cuisine in a haute ambience! The food is typical Mexican dishes representing various states with a delectable presentation. Pan dulces are baked on site. Suggest trying their signature juices and chocolate. Buen Provecho!
