El Grifo Gourmet might just have the best sourdough pizza in Mexico City. The crust is flavorful and perfectly textured, and we loved that you can choose from a few sourdough options and even customize the thickness of the dough. It’s clear they put a lot of thought and care into the quality of their ingredients and recipes.
In addition to the pizza, they offer homemade pasta that was nicely al dente—a rare and appreciated touch. There weren’t any cream-based sauces available, but we added a burrata for 120 pesos. While the burrata was fresh, it was served cold, which didn’t blend well with the warm pasta and made the dish feel a bit disjointed.
The biggest downside was the service. There were only two people working the restaurant on a Wednesday night, and as it got later and busier, things really slowed down. We ended up waiting over 40 minutes just to get our bill. Our kids were freezing, tired, and ready to leave, and it was frustrating that although we finished eating first, we were the last to receive our check. It felt like they were intentionally grouping multiple tables to settle bills together to save time—at the cost of ours.
Overall, the food is worth the visit, especially the sourdough pizza and fresh pasta, but service needs improvement, especially for families or anyone...
Read moreOuf, Griffo—what a hidden treasure. Tucked away and often overlooked, this spot serves one of the tastiest breakfast menus in Polanco, hands down. The food is creative, flavorful, satisfying. But the catch? Service is painfully slow in the mornings, especially on weekdays.
I get it—they’re understaffed because the place isn’t exactly buzzing at 10am. Still, it baffles me: with food this good, why isn’t it packed? Beyond breakfast, Griffo shines in the drinks department. I’m particularly fond of their mezcal negroni—bold, balanced, and a little unexpected. They also offer a solid cocktail list and good beer selection.
The pizzas are another quiet highlight—well-crafted and consistently good.
The terrace is cozy, quiet-ish, and perfect for slipping away from the Polanco hustle. Overall: Griffo is one of those places you want to gatekeep—but kind of wish more people noticed, too. Just be prepared to wait a bit, especially if you're there for the...
Read moreWe stumbled upon this place on our stroll through Polanco hoping to find some good food and beers and we were not disappointed. What started as a 30 minute hangout turned into a 3 hour stay filled with bread and aperol spritzes and delicious craft beers. Aldo in particular was so incredibly sweet and had the best recommendations for local Mexican liquors - the stout he offered hit the spot perfectly. El Grifo was cozy, tasty, comfortable, and I think - a hidden gem in the hustle and bustle of Polanco. If you want a chill, friendly, reasonably priced haven - El Grifo is the...
