Hilo Negro Condesa — Restaurant in Mexico City

This is for sure above average pizza place. Did not expect much, since from the other photos it is clearly visible that we are not talking about Neapolitan pizza. But this is good enough to be very decent pizza place, for sure to be recommended among dozens of other places that have pizza that looks like frozen pizza from Walmart. The real oven visible from the street is a definite sign that they mean business here.

Dough is not chewy, it is even a little bit crunchy but soft inside, just like it should be, and balances really good with the rich toppings in the middle of the pizza. Toppings are just at the right measure; not too much, not too poor.

The only recommendation would be that olive oil (or some kind of other specific, tasteful oil) should be offered to every guest, to be added on this very good crust. (Maybe to come out with a mixture of avocado oil with mild chillies, or mixture of mexican green peppers sauce with garlic). This is something by which this place could stand out even more.

I really, really commend who ever is in charge for having great dark stout beer on offer. This beer fantastically complements pizza, like a fine white vine complements...

This was one of the rudest experiences of my time in CDMX. Needless to say, I will not be back. I got the 2x1 special. The pizzas are mid-quality at best, but I didn’t mind because I was getting the special. We dined in. However, the pizzas are huge so we only ate a few slices of each. There were only 2 of us. When I asked to get boxes for the remaining slices, the waiter said we couldn’t have any take away boxes because of the promo. Again, the rule says you cannot get the 2x1 promo with to-go orders. We sat down and ate and just had extra. There was no way the deal would have been worth it with so many slices left over. We would have been wasting so much food! Hilo Negro Condesa I CONGRAT you on pizzas you made on our visit! Before Mexico we were in southern Italy, Napoli, where we really enjoyed in different type of pizza, also in my home country Croatia we have really good pizza, and with whole heart I can say your pizza match the best pizza we ever tried. Rich ingrudients, and most important dough which is not Romana neither Napoletana but more 'bready' in a good way of course, we really enjoyed in every bite. Also waiter brought pizza immediately when was taken out of wooden owen. It was hot and delicious.

Wait! I am not done! Beer! This deserves separate condemnation, stout was one of the best we ever tried, take in consideration we tried at least 100 different type of beers all around world, and only in Croatia we have over 200 different brands, varietes, and who knows how many...
