This has been our favourite restaurant in DF. After weeks of travel throughout Mexico we returned to Mexico City to wrap up our trip. A family member was feeling really homesick and just needed a reminder of home. Being from little Italy in Vancouver, and seeing the great reviews we decided to come here. The portions were perfectly sized (ie sized so that you can still enjoy a dessert and coffee and not feel overly full or end up leaving a ton of food on your plate because you are too full to eat it!). The food was delicious. The Profiterole, while not traditional, were a wonderful end to our dinner combined with the best cappuccino that I have had since leaving home. The bathrooms and kitchen were super clean. It was so good we spoke with the chef who was very humble in accepting our praise of their work. We have several days left here and now most of the fam wants to eat there every night for the remainder of our trip! Thank you to the attentive staff and the lovely chef who took such care in preparing such a wonderful meal for us all! See you tonight! PS I read a review written month's ago complaining that the portions weren't huge and that it wasn't cheap. I cannot believe how incredibly gracious the owner was in their response! You get what you pay for and if you want cheap and huge there are other places.... if you want quality, deliciousness and a good value for your dollar... this...
Read moreThe food was great - the carbonnara, the ravioli & the salad.
The service not so great.
We received our pasta dishes some time after a table beside us that came in and ordered 20 minutes after us received their entire five dishes.
They charged us for bread which seemed to be included in their well detailed menu. We expected to pay for the salad which we did. Their explanation on the menu that you receive a side, etc seems incorrect given the charge for the only "side" we each received, bread.
Despite the pastas taking 45-50 minutes to come out, the waiter attended our table within 60 seconds with his phone translating to us that we had to order our last drinks now. It did not appear that this same information was disclosed to any other tables. Perhaps incorrect here, but good service would be to let us enjoy our meals before giving out such trivial information.
We were never asked was our food okay. And the waitress that initially served us hid in the back for 40 plus minutes as it was clear that there was some sort of error in the kitchen with our waiting time / order of food being delivered to other tables.
Food good,...
Read moreIf you don’t speak Spanish, be warned — the waiters don’t speak English and make no effort to explain the menu or use a translator. The menu said “2 cocktails for 210 pesos,” with a list of drinks, so we assumed you could mix and match. Apparently not. No one explained that both cocktails had to be the same.
We were served with four cocktails, two identical, which we obviously hadn’t meant to order, so we refused to get them. The waitress didn’t double-check, and in the end, we were charged full price of the 2 cocktails we ordered, instead of 210 pesos. Totally unfair and poorly handled.
Food was okayish — ravioli were okay, carbonara lacked creaminess and had a bad taste — plus the service really ruined the experience. Not...
