We heard a lot about the tacos here from both vegans and non-vegans alike. One of our tour guides in Mexico even mentioned that despite being a non-vegan, he rated the tacos here among the very best in the city.
And to our delight, everything we heard about the place was true. We came here for three meals during our time in Mexico City. We were also pretty lucky that it was only a mile from where we stayed. The Al pastor is the shining jewel in their menu and rightly so. It’s just a perfect blend of heat, fat, and acidity. Over the course of the 3 meals we tried all of their tacos, some of my other favorites were alambre and the chorizo-verde. The cactus topping and the habanero salsas ( pineapple habanero in particular) gave an added depth of flavor.
We paid an average of 4-5 usd per meal consisting roughly of about 5-6 tacos. The tortas are good too but I would always go for the tacos. Too many things such as cheese, tomatoes and avocado make the flavors complicated and messed up.
Don’t miss this place when you are in Mexico and especially if you happen to be a vegan/vegetarian.
They have a brick and mortar store too 2 block away which is a sit-down type place. But we found it difficult to get seats , the wait times were usually 30-45 mins there. And so, we ended up at the stall 2 out of the 3 times. The sit-down place has a more expansive menu in addition to the...
Read moreUpdated Food was delicious, but it wasn't worth the severe food poisoning it gave me. I hadn't eaten anything for about 24 hours before or after the meal, but I was violently ill about 12 hours after eating from here. Be wary if the salas are kept at ambient temperature as they were when I got them. I have never been so sick in my life.
Original Absolutely delicious tacos and gringas! Portions were generous, price was reasonable, and the flavors were fantastic. The pastor and bistec were especially tasty, and the texture of the proteins were great considering. Salsas were also very tasty. Ordering to go worked well for me (no tables to eat at).
The only thing I would note is that the type of protiens are not communicated on the menu. I'm sure you can ask, but if you have allergies (soy, gluten, etc.), take care...
Read moreLove love love this place. Zero pretentiousness, just delicious vegan tacos! There are so many options and every one I've tried has been delicious. There is also a wide selection of sides to go with the tacos (nopalitos, onions, beans, lime wedges etc.) , which are served on double tortillas. Servings are generous, the prices are super reasonable, and the food is delicious. It is often busy but this is testament to how good it is. Plus have never had to wait a particularly long time for food. There is also a good selection of drinks which are refillable. Have tried a couple of the dessert options too, which is a nice touch to include, especially because it can be hard to find vegan pastries and sweet treats. I can't recommend this place highly enough, even if you...
