Vegetal — Restaurant in Mexico City

This is not a 5-star restaurant, at least in the traditional sense. I'm giving this 5 stars with respect to what it is, a fine example of tiny neighborhood Cafe, and in particular, one serving vegan only. I'm not a vegetarian, nor is my wife, but she trends that way. After having so much meaty food in Mexico City (all wonderful) we needed a break. We were in Roma Norte and saw it was open. We're glad we stopped. We ordered too much food, but liked everything. Our favorites were the soup (which had lentils, sunflower seeds, and veggies) a seitan dish called Alambre, and the tacos (especially one of the taco fillings). There is a a deal where you get 3 tacos and soup for a reasonable price, which is a great way to try 3 of the great vegan taco proteins they offer. Most of the proteins are designed to imitate traditional meat taco fillings, and while that is fun to end up comparing, we ultimately just like what's best, but unfortunately, we can't remember what was what. We know we ordered a mushroom/fungus one, a ciccarone, and perhaps a second ciccarone one. We can say that the best one was recommended by the person taking our order, so ask. Don't order from delivery apps. This restaurant has tried the same bait-and-switch tactic on me three times now. They show very cheap menu items to get you to order, then call and tell you they're out of what you ordered and that the delivery app isn't working so they can't cancel your order either and ask if you want to change your order to something else. I contacted Rappi after they tried to do this to me the last time, and they canceled it and told me they had no issue contacting Vegetal via the app. Vegetal also accepted my order via the app, meaning the only time the app supposedly wasn't working was when they were calling and trying to get me to change my order. Not worth it unless you are caucasian... Do not take me wrong, I am foreing but I am not light skinned bloke. I did notice service is not equal, they do serve better white folks, even more who are from the US than their own people) mexicans which I happened to be there with a couple of weeks back. When informed, one of the staff members was rude and passive aggressive saying otherwise (see replies to customer's reviews... They don't accept it) but hey, we were served way after two more table (of white ppl) who got there after us..., plus you have to go through the kitchen if you need...
