Best Pozole ever! I’ve roamed many a place, and had many a Pozole both restaurant and homemade, from the U.S. to various states in Mexico… this by far is the place to go in Mexico City to have an the excellent, tasty, traditional, and mouthwatering rendition of South of the Border real Mexican Pozole. These folks started back in ’72 and have shown that their boasting of offering the ‘Best Pozole in Mexico’ is very, very true! These folks boast having combed the length and breadth of Mexico searching the varied regional styles of Pozole and have enabled them to perfect a dish unequaled. Not only are their Pozoles excellent, but I have yet to visit a restaurant that offers such a diverse offering of true Mexican fare. From Capirotadas to Enchiladas, Quesadillas to Enfrijoladas, Tacos to Chorizo, Sopas to Birria, Flautas to Mole meals, just to mention a few items available in their incredibly massive menu. We ordered and thoroughly enjoyed the Súper guarnición pozolera which included crema, queso, chicharrón and a whole aguacate (avocado). Superb. If ever in CDMX and a Pozole lover, make sure you make a stop at this fantastic Pozoleria… they offer 14 locations in the country as of this writing. No matter wherever and whenever I have Pozole in the future, theirs will be my benchmark. Buen provecho Amigos y...
Read moreThe food itself was good, but the customer service was terrible. Our server, Adriana, was unprofessional and even tried to guilt-trip us into leaving a larger tip by telling us a sob story about how tips also go toward paying the cooks, dishwashers, and others. She claimed that if we didn’t leave at least 10%, she would personally be charged that amount to give to them. To make things worse, she added extra pressure on us because she noticed we were Americans. No customer should feel pressured or shamed into tipping, especially when the service is poor.
Service was slow and inattentive — we waited around 10–15 minutes just to receive menus. Adriana didn’t bother clearing plates from our table and spent most of her time in the back near the kitchen instead of checking on customers. On top of that, other staff members were making rude comments about us, which we could hear. Adriana even tried to hide her embarrassment by covering her face.
Another thing customers should know: beware, they charge you for takeout boxes, similar to how California charges for bags. I don’t think people should have to pay extra just to take home their leftovers.
Overall, while the food was fine, the service and practices here were unacceptable. I would not...
