Tried a WLB burger yesterday and I have to say that it was a big surprise. Even though the place is small and I had to wait for 15 minutes on a Sunday at 3pm (also it was a rainy day) , the experience was well worth the wait. The thick patty had a lot of flavor, juicy, and right on the Medium-well mark, just as ordered (in other places it's common to order the meat Medium-well and see them deliver it Well-done, and that's unacceptable...fortunately, not the case here :) ) . This burger comes with a big deep fried onion ring and bacon that add a lot to the flavor, the bacon was aprox 2-3mm thick, which makes it really present along with the meat juiciness. The regular fries are not outstanding, just ok, however, they provide homemade ketchup which has a less sugary flavor than the regular processed ketchup, this is one of the highlights of the experience,it goes great with the fries and the burger. Mac and cheese was ok, but bacon bits were overcooked.
Overall, the burger itself makes this a place worth visiting if you're a burger lover. I'm adding it to my list of favorite burger stops. The physical place is small and simple but it focuses successfully on the mix of flavor with good quality meat...
Read moreIt's a pity this place gets two stars, because we really had high hopes when we saw the reviews and the concept.
The service was friendly, except for the fact that they didn't bring me the beer I'd asked for (although they did change it without a fuss).
However, what really ruined it for us was that we asked for our burgers medium, and they showed up practically raw. We asked for them to be cooked some more, and they came back rare, along with a slightly snooty comment from the waitress that what she was giving us was medium-well. I'd hate to see what they call rare, and if they even bother to put the patty on the grill in that case.
It seems like the problem is largely that they use a lot of prepared foods that are then frozen. It seems to me that a fairly basic part of learning to cook is figuring out how to defrost something.
Also, I know my steaks. So...
Read moreThis is a review of the Marina Vallarta location. I guess it means something when a restaurant is always empty but since it was new we though we would try. Overpriced cold food with poor service. When you have only two tables occupied in your restaurant it should not be that difficult but I guess there are more interesting things to talk about rather then serving customers. You should take the staff to Route 66 next door for dinner and show them how a burger is served . I predict this location will be closed by next year unless things change dramatically as there are many different options that are much better in the Marina and you may sucker in a few tourist but word gets around very quickly among long term residents. Oh yeah and how does a burger joint run out of french fries?...
