Please believe the reviews about the terrible service here and take your business elsewhere. The ambiance is not worth it.
My partner and I had just arrived at Hotel Parque after a flight from Oaxaca ( we’re from the US). We were in Mexico City the week before, went to Oaxaca for a few days, and returned here for another week. He was sick and not feeling well, so we thought we’d go to the restaurant after checking in a little before 5. We went to the host, who asked how many were at our party and if we were eating or grabbing cocktails. I said we would eat, and he wanted to put us outside while it had just begun sprinkling. We said no, we preferred to sit inside, and we were unsure why that wasn't the first option despite the restaurant's only 2 or 3 groups. As soon as we sat down, our waiter asked us if we'd like some wine, and I said no, thank you. We weren't drinking because my partner was sick. He said we had to drink if we would sit at a table, and they don't serve soft beverages. I said why is that, and he said with attitude because it's a restaurant. I was upset because I’ve never gone to a restaurant, especially a supposedly “upper-class” restaurant, that treated us that way. Not to be snobby or pretentious, but we live in the Bay Area and frequent fine dining restaurants, and on regular occasions when my partner isn’t recovering from a fever and sick, we enjoy ordering a bottle or two of wine with our dinner. I told my partner that I did not want to eat there given the prices were on the higher end, we were staying at the hotel attached to the restaurant, and they were rude. My partner wanted to stay and didn’t mind, but I felt uncomfortable with our waiter. I insisted we get up and leave, and as we were leaving, the host asked us if we were going. I said yes, and he said if we were leaving, he would give our table to the two gentlemen at the front. I said ok, lol, and then he asked what the problem was, and I said our waiter was rude, and we left. I love coming to Mexico every year since my family is from here, but I was born in the US, and it was my partner's first time in Mexico. I felt disheartened and sad that we were treated so poorly because I've never experienced this treatment as a tourist here. Supposedly, the restaurant and hotel aren't affiliated with one another, which seems illogical. In my opinion, it would behoove the hotel to address the reputation and service that the restaurant is giving to its customers and hotel guest. We ended up going down the street to Castizo which we...
Read moreMy partner and I have come here several times over the years. We know it’s a tourist spot so we always make sure to let them know we’re just drinking. We let the woman downstairs know AND our server. We have never had a problem before, until today. We came here with two of our friends who are new to CDMX. We ordered drinks and then were brought some bread by our server. Then Don Adrian came over and DEMANDED that we buy an appetizer or entree. He put on a good show acting confused and showing us the “rule” in the menu that we were obliged to purchase a meal. We offered to give back the bread and butter they brought to us but it was clear he just wanted our money. Plain and simple this is a scam they try and guilt tourists into complying with. Normally I wouldn’t care about this kind of thing but this behavior put a bad taste in our friend’s mouths and ruined the ambience entirely. Don Adrian sets a bad example for CDMX and its reputation for excellent...
Read moreWe've been here three times, most recently last night. Lovely atmosphere overlooking Parque Mexico and often have nice live music in the evenings. The food is mediocre. The creamy pasta with mushrooms had no flavor. The tacos also weren't flavorful and the tortillas were old (a sin in Mexico.) The service has been spotty. Last night it was pretty good. But the manager is a total snob. Last night he banned us from walking down the stairs to exit. Actually was annoyed that we asked not to take the elevator. Another time we wanted to go up and order a bottle of champagne and drinks but they wouldn't let us unless we also ordered dinner (and the place was half...
