The food:
Quite good. I was given some sort of an amuse bouche, and it was great. I'm not sure what it was but I can have more of it. Then I had the tacos with the steak and bone marrow. Why I've never had bone marrow on a steak before, I can't explain, but this has got to be one of the best combinations ever. I loved the taste, even as I am quite possibly not eating it properly. The tortilla keeps failing on me that I had to resort to eating with a a fork and a knife. Then I had the huitlacoche tostada. I must admit that one of the things I looked forward to in this trip is to taste huitlacoche. I probably shoud have tried the corn and huitlacoche soup, or has some more of Cafe Nin's huitlacoche tamal, because this was a lot of huitlacoche! Probably just my unsophisticated palete but it seemed like it lacked balance and was bordering on too salty for me. It was earthy and I loved the herbal notes of the dish. It was spicy. Boy, it was, my head sweats came pouring down my face.
Service:
Very quick. Perhaps too quick? The staff was very friendly which in Mexico City is the standard. But one of the reasons I decided not to stay for their churros is that it was going to take 15 minutes to cook. I didn't want to overstay my welcome. Perhaps if I had spoken better Spanish, I'd feel more welcome?
Atmosphere:
Nothing to write home about, Very clean, very nice.
Price:
I spent about US$ 25, including tip
Final thoughts:
I'd go back for the bone marrow and...

Read moreWhen we first sat down and requested if anything could be made vegan for me, I wanted to give this restaurant an amazing review because they went out of their way to veganise a dish of huitlacoche for me, so that I could try it, and to modify a salad.
The huitlacoche experience was excellent - so glad I had the opportunity to try it. And my partner thoroughly enjoyed his meal (the beef tongue) as well. But then along came the modified salad.
The first one looked great! No goat cheese dressing, oil and vinegar as discussed. But then I mixed the salad up and there, underlying many leaves, was evidence of dairy. So the salad got sent back and it was explained that I have a dairy allergy. At this point, I’m still planning a good review because, accidents happen and this is the equivalent of someone going to a vegan restaurant and ordering a steak.
Then the ‘fixed’ salad comes out. And it has zero dressing, and is missing the pecans. So now I’m done. It’s a salad, this isn’t complicated. Ergo,...
