Río de Janeiro Plaza

This is one of my favorite reading locations in Mexico City. It's a medium size plaza that never feels too crowded. I have always found at least 1/2 of a bench (or more) for myself even at a busy 14:00 Easter weekend Saturday.

A great mixture of artisan booths, people with dogs, amplified singing person (quite good, really), and the most important - the sound of the fountain.

The park is close enough to other parks that if it is not your vibe you can easily move to another.

Cute spot to sit and enjoy a pastry or coffee from one of the nearby cafes. TONS of gorgeous purebred dogs in this park. My son even enjoyed people and dog watching here, he’s only 18 months old so that says something about the liveliness of this park. There is a small childrens play area, but its too advanced for toddlers and of questionable safety/cleanliness. Lots of benches...

El suelo esta muy desnivelado, he visto a personas de diferentes edades lastimarse e incluso caerse por lo mismo; la gente sin hogar usa la fuente para bañarse y lavar su ropa, por lo que aveces el agua desprende un aroma fétido; no tiene iluminación, en cuanto oscurece no se ve nada; he visto jeringas (aun con las agujas) tiradas en las jardineras; las bicicletas, patines eléctricos, bicis eléctricas, motos y patinetas pasan a gran velocidad sin ningún cuidado o precaución a pesar de ver a bastantes niños pequeños y personas de la terceraedad; no hay ningún tipo de vigilancia o seguridad en el parque; cuesta trabajo cruzar la calle para acceder al parque o retirarse del mismo, ya que a pesar de contar con semáforo no hay paso peatonal, hay que esperar a que los carros cedan el paso pero las motos se avientan y hay muchísimos ratones de diferentes tamaños; se andan paseando por todos lados y hace falta que arreglen y limpien las jardineras ya que los perros se hacen del baño y nadie limpia por lo que huele muy mal. Lo único rescatable es que si cuenta con botes de basura y pasan personas a vaciarlos cuando ya...
