Zimo strikes a delicate balance between contemporary design and cozy charm, making it ideal for both casual dinners and special occasions.
The open shelving showcasing vinyl records hints at the restaurant’s appreciation for art and culture, giving the space a unique character that complements its culinary offerings. The sleek metal furniture and polished concrete floors are softened by subtle touches like wooden tabletops and the welcoming staff behind the modern bar.
The menu at Zimo is a carefully curated selection of Italian classics with a modern twist, made from fresh, high-quality ingredients. The lamb dish, a standout, is cooked to perfection—juicy, tender, and richly flavored with a balanced herb-infused sauce. Accompanied by a crisp mixed greens salad, the simplicity of the dish allows the natural flavors to shine through, offering a delightful harmony between rich and fresh elements.
Zimo’s cocktail program is equally impressive. Their “Naked and Famous,” a vibrant mezcal-based cocktail, exemplifies the restaurant’s flair for innovation. The drink’s smoky, citrus-forward notes are balanced by the herbal depth of yellow Chartreuse and the sweet, bittersweet kick of Aperol, making it a must-try for cocktail aficionados.

Read moreI got food poisoning from their lamb meatball risotto dish. I did think the meatballs were slightly undercooked but I thought maybe it was just the lighting and it would be fine to eat. I know, I was dumb.
Three hours later I was having the worst stomach ache of my life and now, eight hours later, I'm on my second break from kneeling and praying to the porcelain god if you know what I mean (kneeling next to the toilet).
Reading the other reviews I realize that there is an issue with Overcooking meat. Even the waiter told my mom that the salmon could come out a bit dry. Thinking back on this I think they were worried about overcooking my lamb meatballs and instead decided to serve them a nice shade of pink on the inside, compliments of the chef. Even the waiter said the food came out a bit earlier than expected. I know, I know, red flags all around, and I ignored them.
I hate to leave a bad review, especially since the service was really good. Quite honestly one of the best waiters I've had in a while. The other staff were great too and the vibe is really cool from the outside looking in.
The risotto was a bit salty and I only ate about a fourth of it. Quite honestly everything was a bit too salty, from the puré that comes with the salmon, to the Flor de calabaza dip.
Would I go back to eat there? Probably not unless I want to live dangerously. Maybe only if the owner or the chef ate with me and shared the same dishes with me. I would, however, go back for a drink or two, but not my top choice.
I want to make it clear that this probably doesn't happen often if at all at Zimo. My mom is fine and there isn't a single other review about food poisoning. One person did state their ravioli was bad but apparently they don't know their cheeses well and didn't recognize the flavor.
Again, lovely place, but beware of the meat, especially the undercooked lamb meatballs and the salty risotto and food unless you have low blood pressure and need the extra salt in your diet. I added a picture so that you can be careful of the dish. I also took a video of the cooks making the pasta which is cool, but I don't want to distract the reader from the fact that you need to be careful with the...
Read moreA new Italian restaurant offering a variety of pastas, but unfortunately, lacking in flavor and with service that felt a bit pushy. This latest Italian hotspot in the Condesa neighborhood was mostly empty when we arrived around 8pm, though it started to fill up as the night went on. We were seated towards the back of the restaurant and given menus. Despite the place being mostly empty, the music was loud, which wasn’t enjoyable, and the chairs were uncomfortably stiff—something I noticed almost immediately.
Our server was rather insistent on upselling, repeatedly pushing us to order appetizers or alcoholic drinks beyond our two pasta dishes and mineral water. It felt intrusive and annoying after the first couple of times. We were given bread, but it tasted slightly stale, which was disappointing.
The pastas came out quickly, which was a plus. However, the lemon mascarpone ravioli was a letdown. It looked bland and tasted just as underwhelming, with barely any hint of lemon. Given that it was the most expensive pasta option ($260), it definitely didn’t live up to expectations. The pappardelle was much better in comparison, but the portion size for the ravioli seemed smaller than expected.
After finishing, the pushiness continued with multiple attempts to get us to order dessert, which at that point, became irritating. I decided to just ask for the bill. While prices were fair overall, the experience with the ravioli and the overly pushy service left a bad impression. What started as seemingly friendly service turned into a frustrating and underwhelming visit, which was disappointing for a restaurant positioned as the new kid...
