Cafe Bistrot Epicuro — Restaurant in Oaxaca

Okay I would have left 4 or 5 stars because the pizza was great. Probably best pizza in Oaxaca. However the one server was so creepy, I can’t tell you how uncomfortable I felt. Right when I walked in he goes “wowwww,” blatantly checking me out. He kept trying to have a conversation while I was just trying to relax while waiting for good. Asked me my name & where I was from. When I couldn’t finish the pizza because I wasn’t feeling well he sat next to me and said “well you look better now” and proceeded to poke my stomach. WOW. I have been annoyed by the number of creep men & cat calls in Oaxaca but the server in a restaurant totally just set me off. Not a happy girl. After a week of yummy Oaxacan food, I was looking for an alternative for my final meal. Epicuro was near me and had very good reviews. I now know why. I had the vegetarian eggplant parmigiana and a side of spaghetti. Sounds simple, and it was, but also yummy and exactly what I wanted and needed. And the two glasses of Mexican Chenin Blanc, which I was a bit suspect (cuz México is not associated with wine). All very good, including the wine. So so happy with my final meal. We arrived at the restaurant half hour before close and were seated right away. The juices ordered were mostly water and had to be sent back. After ordering a single pizza to share, we noticed it to be taking a long time in a relatively empty restaurant. We inquired with a server who informed us that something was wrong with the pizza oven and that it was being worked on. However, after a total wait time of about 40 minutes without update, we unfortinately had no option but to leave. For a restaurant that advertises as upscale, the big misstep was not communicating with us or offering something else...
