Vaca Marina — Restaurant in Oaxaca

I stumbled here looking for another restaurant. The views are amazing and the waiter was great. However the food lacked any flavor. I’ve been in Oaxaca and this is the first ok food experience. I ordered the fish of the day. The mole or whatever the sauce was terrible. Like overdone with cinnamon and just didn’t pair well with the fish. The papas fritas were fine. The en salada Verde was also boring. No real flavors. I took the pickled beets from the fish and put it in the salad to improve the flavor. It was my most expensive meal here and least favorite. Extremely overpriced for what you get. Ordered the wagyu (medium rare) which was not actually wagyu and was one of the toughest pieces of meat I have ever had. I couldn't even finish it. The steak tartar was oddly seasoned and off-puttingly warm. The ceviche was VERY fishy and we couldn't finish that either. The view, however, is spectacular and the live music and staff were wonderful. It is a great location for drinks but our experience with the food was very disappointing for what we paid, almost $1500 pesos per person. It is in the tourist epicenter so perhaps that is too...

We had the cocktail for our wedding here and I would not recommend. Overall, we were disappointed. Pros: great rooftop Cons: “Cocktail style” food was brought out on regular tables as if it was dinner. Very awkward. Drinks were watery, waitstaff was confused, they brought out plastic water bottles which was extremely tacky for an upscale event. We were told we ordered enough food and people left hungry.
