Ceviche Corazón — Restaurant in Playa del Carmen

I’ve been living in Playa for years and I’m fully used to the local food — I never get sick. But here, I got a terrible food poisoning that I’m still recovering from, a month later.

I had only ordered a guacamole, but it was clearly prepared using utensils contaminated with raw fish. I got sick the same night, and things quickly got worse until it was confirmed as food poisoning.

On top of that, the service was extremely slow — there were only four tables, and it still took over 30 minutes just to get a guacamole.

Hygiene standards here are clearly very poor. I strongly suggest you only order fully cooked food if you really decide...

What a waste of money. The service, atmosphere and food were trash. The waitress was in her own world and completely discombobulated. There was next to no one in the restaurant yet you had to wait forever. The atmosphere had poor ambience and the table was dirty. The feel of the place was unwelcoming. The chips were completely stale. The black aquachile was terrible and the hot sauces had a bland taste. Almost like it was left out in the sun all day. I can’t believe we paid that bill. Not worth a penny. I would not recommend this place...

Mara is a great server, Andrea an amazing chef. One of the best fresh ceviches/fish tacos we've had. Nice local vibe, only disappointment was that the drinks seemed watered down the second time we went, bartender did make a 2nd one free of charge( other one was still 3/4's full) I ended up finishing my girlfriends drink for a total of 3drinks for myself. First time we went only 2drinks were enough to get me walking slowly😜 now 3 drinks and no light...
