When a restaurant treats you like family, there is a strong desire to keep coming back. Patanegra feels like home and will forever be one of my favorite restaurants. My love for the Spanish language and Latin people/food/culture started when I lived in Spain in 2006 and so any time there is a Spanish restaurant I have to go and try it. I've been to Patanegra probably 5 or 6 times since I arrived in Playa for the summer. The tinto de verano per glass or jug is to DIE FOR as well as the Sangria. It's rare to feel a buzz at dinner in Mexico but after a couple drinks at Patanegra you will feel incredible and you get your money's worth. The food is also so so good. They have fire grilled special seafood daily and their food is authentically Spanish. The tortilla española is made to order and I can't tell you how special that is. The gaspacho is so fresh and refreshing after a hot day and their meats and cheeses are also so good. Now, the service here is on another level. I love everyone who works here and I'm so grateful to have met such warm and awesome people who truly enhanced my time in Playa. Read moreWe went out, looking for a place to eat New Year’s Eve. Had no plans of any particular place.
Found this Spanish restaurant. They were offering an eight course meal for the evening. So we chose that one. A bit pricey I believe it was around 1700 per person. So little high.
Anyway, great food, the courses were amazing and you could tell the chef really was particular about presentation and flavors and it went very well with her Spanish wine.
Service was amazing. Our waiter was wonderful and very accommodating.
Loved the atmosphere, laid-back outdoorsy type vibe. You could order off the regular menu as well if you wanted to, that evening but either way the food and everything else was delicious.
Will we go back absolutely gotta go back and try some of the rest of the stuff we saw on...
Read moreWe were tired of our hotel “luxury” meals and felt like eating Spanish food. After realizing that the delivery app wasn’t gonna make it happen, we called the restaurant, spoke with Javi and he didn’t stop at nothing to solve the delivery issue! Amazing service! So we ordered the croquetas de jamon ibérico, the ox tails and the paella de mariscos. Let me start with the presentation. You don’t expect much from delivery boxes… wrong! The food was nicely organized, well presented and warm! The croquetas, creamy, with jamon bites, simply delicious! The ox tail… wow! Falling off the bone with an amazing sauce. And finally the paella… excellent! The seafood flavor with the zafron, the color, the shrimps… REALLY good! A place never to miss if you like Spanish food and you are in...
