So when we initially didn't get the room I booked (private entrance, double bed) and they said they don't have any other available but this (regular room with double bed and another single bed that made the room so crowded), I thought okay let's not make a big deal out of it. But this place was getting worse every single day, up to a point where I had to check out earlier and go to a different hotel. This rip-off costed me more money for 8 nights than I paid some way better hotels for 3 weeks. Soundproofed rooms are the biggest lie ever, you can hear people from the room next door yelling, listening to music, etc. This was the first time in my life that I couldn't sleep all night because the room next door watched loud TV. Staff gathers in the hallway and yells and laughs in the morning for an hour too. They are also in the middle of renovations (?) so you can hear guys that are painting whistle at each other between two floors & sing. You also get to enjoy the smell of paint and jump over ladders & paint buckets on your way down. The building "next door" (wall-to-wall) is under construction which would be somewhat acceptable if this place had at least windows that could be closed in the hallway. Instead, they have holes with metal gates (?) where you can enjoy sounds of drilling, hammering and construction crew singing, while cement is falling of the building and into the hotel hallway (pics attached). When I couldn't take it anymore I brought it up and they moved me to another room that now fortunately had direct access to the street bar with live music till 2am & motorcycle revving, so the construction noise wasn't that loud during the day, but this picked up during night. Around 6-7 am hotel staff is dragging sun-beds on the concrete around the pool so that will definitely wake you up. Rooms are dirty, stained, old and moldy. There is no ventilation in the bathroom or the room itself, the ceiling fan is not working, and the mosquito net they stated they have - doesn't exist, so you can't even sleep with open terrace without getting bitten by a thousand mosquitoes. You have to ask for the iron, the second room I got didn't even have a hair dryer. As a highlight- this place doesn't even have a security guard, at new year's we came back to the hotel to find a cop baton stuck in the entrance door to prevent them from opening from the outside I am a very frequent traveler, and had no issues with hotels, but this place made me feel like I am the biggest inconvenience, and they are giving me a bed for free so I should just take it and roll with whatever they have going on. Not a single time any of them even apologized for the inconvenience, or showed like they are slightly concerned about the issues guests are having. I ended up raising this issue with Booking itself, they really tried to help and solve the issue, and for that I am grateful. I would advise the owner & the staff to just turn this into a storage facility, because none of you is cut to work in hospitality industry.

Update June 10: Love this place. Decided to stay extra month. UPDATE MAY 10. My original visit was so pleasant, that I have extended for a month. Edited comments to original review: With several choices in this hotel category to select from, the difference for me, was the exceptional hospitality provided by all, in particular by Giada and Margarita at the Front Desk and ALL housekeepers. Location is excellent: 1 block off 5a, on 10ave, across the street from Oxxo, 1 block from Chedraui Select Groceries, 3 blocks to the beach, and most everything within walking distance. Rates are among the most affordable in town, particularly in such proximity to 5a/beach. In exchange for this you get older facilities but very adequate and clean accommodations. In my case, room 209: ceiling fan in room, a/c blew cold, great (hot & cold) water pressure, smaller mini fridge, double bed, and a beautiful balcony overlooking pool. Now in 106, same applies, but on ground floor. Suprisingly, very quiet hotel. Additionally, there is an Italian restaurant "on site/independent" serving B, L & D, the latter two being Italian. For a reasonable charge, breakfast can be included in lodging cost. Keys are old school, 🔑 not electronic card, so leave at desk upon leaving, pick up upon return. The property is safe, with someone at desk @ 24 hrs a day. Safety Boxes available in all rooms. Pool towels are available which you can take to beach at No charge. Just sign for them. The layout is rooms around a courtyard where the pool sits. Lush vegetation. Sun only hits a small part of deck, so tanning can be for a few hours on the sun beds. Charming & quaint best describes this property. An excellent choice for those of us that seek relaxation at a great value price. Plan on returning often.

Not the best hotel.. In 2 months traveling for Mexico I can definitely say that la señora MARGARITA Is the WORST receptionist I ve met so far She was everything but friendly and always speaking with this sarcastic tone and also she wasn't helpful at all!! Customer service 0 Location is ok just a block away from the 5th avenue but still a long walk to the centre, can definitely find better The room is small and it it doesn't have anything like a boiler for a coffee or something like that so you re forced to go to the restaurant downstairs to have breakfast. Also because when we tried to add the breakfast with room la señora Margarita said it was impossible. Still don't understand why, when in booking.com says that you can add it for 4usd The only good thing about this hotel is the pool And the cleaning I wouldn't go back and I WOULD NOT raccomend

Look... this is not the Ritz Carlton or Hilton, nor is it a Red Roof Inn in rural Kentucky. It's not fair to review it against those places. Judge it for what it is: a small local hotel in a popular tourist destination.

Firstly, the location: central to everything you want to do in Playa. Smack dab in the center of everything. You can mostly walk to all popular destinations including the beach. The rooms are spacious and have balconies. They are clean, well lit, well furnished, and have a cute aesthetic. The Waldorf it is not. Rooms are sun-drenched but have blackout curtains. Shower is spacious and cute bug yes, water doesn't get very hot. Maybe it's a cultural thing locally. Each room has a mini-split AC and ceiling fan, small fridge, cable TV, etc. The sinks are in an open are outside the toilet/shower. Personally, I don't like that but again - maybe it's a cultural thing down here. It's fine. There are no conference centers, fancy in-house coffee shops, massage centers, hairdressers, room service, bellhops nor Maitre D that will sneak you into shows for a tip. Don't throw shade on the place for that.

It's a value hotel, with excellent rooms, in an exceptional location for a great low price. It's cutely decorated with a Spanish villa vibe.

The staff is very accommodating and super friendly even if you don't speak Spanish. The daily cleaning staff go above and beyond to refresh your room and keep it spotless. I should mention that they heroically unclog toilets with neary a complaint. The pool is clean and adorable - surrounded by lush vegetation and balconies. Yes, that does block a lot of sunlight. There is a decent restaurant abutting the pool - bound by the street on its other side. Endless pool/beach towels are provided but you do have to sign for those and bring the back. There is a room tax of 150 Pesos in top of what you may have paid.

Couple of minor issues: The beds are hard. The pillows are tiny but they will give you more free of charge if you ask. Garbage cans are tiny but emptied daily. Again, i don't like their sinks separate from the toilet/shower. The doors use spring-latch domestic Quikset locks and they only gave us one key. They are wood with wood jams.Maybe you could ask for another key - not sure. Point is, these are not high-security entry ways. They can easily be jimmied with any credit card. As a person who travels with lots of expensive electronics including a high-priced DSLR, this worried me. Everything was...
