What a disaster. Before you read this wall of text, just think, how bad could it have been to warrant someone being this annoyed that they will spend this long writing a review. Bottom line, save yourself time and money and go anywhere else. Even though these tacos are cheap, it still isn't worth the time nor the money.
Probably the worst service I've ever had at any restaurant/taqueria. Tables are on a first come first served basis. Hover and grab a table when it opens is what you do. That works fine, we get a table after about a minute. A group of 3 sits down right before us at a nearby table. Both of our tables waited 10 minutes at least just to get a menu. 3 other tables have also sat down in this time. We all put our orders in. 30 minutes later, no one has been served. A couple tables have been given salsa/condiments for their tacos. We haven't.
After 45 minutes, another table sits down and almost immediately gets their drinks. I go up and ask the waiter if we are ever going to get our drinks. He assures me that he will bring them shortly. I also point out that we arrived well before this other table that just sat down. I go back and sit down and they bring our drinks and then they bring the EXACT SAME THING we ordered, to the other table that just sat down. We've been there nearly an hour and haven't received any food. The table that sat down not even 10 minutes ago ordered literally the exact same thing and they gave it to them first.
Half of the other tables that had also sat down around the same time as us had received there food around this time. But it was obvious that they were also really annoyed with the wait.
We should have walked out after the first 10 or 15 minutes rather than wasting more than an hour on some of the most mediocre al pastor tacos we've ever had. I can't review any of their other food, because they ran out of everything. That doesn't actually bother me. It was the absolute horrible service and completely incompetent handling of orders that...
Read moreA review for a taqueria like El Carboncito for me boils down to the taste and quality of their taco. No, their drinks aren't the greatest and this taqueria is located in a parking lot on the tulum strip, so no points for ambience. It's about the delicious charcoal cooked pastor tacos, their centerpiece. Grab a couple cold beers across the street, sit down on a rickety chair, enjoy your meal and the...
Read moreBest tacos of our entire trip! We were walking along 307 looking for a dinner spot and my wife and I stopped in our tracks when we saw the al pastor rotating on a spit in front of a charcoal fire. Decision made.
We got a variety: pastor, chorizo, puerco and arrachera. The charcoal smoke flavor of the al pastor was magic..wish I would've gotten 10 more haha. The prices were great too, around $140...
