The food in tulum is incredible, but this place is a joke thatās not even funny. We walked in through some kind of human car wash spraying some kind of soapy smelling liquid, I missed my chance to turn around after that moment. Sat down ordered a michelada that was so sorry it came in the same glass the margaritas the rest of the table ordered. Along side that was the hot shrimp cocktail and I donāt meant spice wise.... this was warm as if prepared yesterday. Also ordered the queso or should I say molten ball of mozzarella. After that the chewy, most likely canned, and complete miss of culinary style for fajitas was served ( without tortillas) almost ten minutes before the rest of the entreeās. The enchilada was so bland and swimming in horrid green swamp juice I was scared to see the coconut shrimp but they actually passed for food. You can get better food at any backwoods mediocre place in the US. To top it all off they started spreading some kind of lacquer on the bar top which filled the place with worse smells than coming from the kitchen. Run for your life to any of the multiple carts on the street while...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreDuring my visit in Tulum I wanted to go where everyone have been posting, those nice restaurants with amazing views. But you can't do that every single day, you'll run out of money, they can be expensive. I went on a quest to look for authentic Mexican food at an authentic Mexican restaurant. Yes I was in Mexico but there's a lot of places that serve fusion cuisine, inspired from other countries and lifestyle, i.e., Vegan, Vegetarian, French, Mediterranean food, etc.
Finally found this place out of many, that serves authentic Mexican food at a very reasonable price. The food is fresh and tasty. Mariachi Loco became our go to, when we wanted to grab a quick bite or we were tired of the touristy locations. The drinks were also really good and regular priced from $40 pesos to $ 200, depending what you order.
The service was also great, our waiter Julio was very helpful and kept checking on us to make sure we didn't need anything else.
Recommendations: You get 5 tacos for $100...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreWe only went here for drinks. Margherita and Mojito were okay - good price. The lady at the bar was very kind. The interior and the building itself is nice. However, everything around it seems to be focused into getting customers to fall for tourist traps and leave some extra pesos. We were asked to have our photo taken "for the house" by a guy who showed up again 20 minutes later, holding a tequila bottle with our photo printed on it as a label. He tried to sell it to us for a price of 200 Pesos. The same thing he did with every other tourist around us and charged different prices (a couple sitting next to us paid 300 Pesos). A couple of minutes later, another guy who obviously also belongs to the restaurant wanted to sell tours, transportation etc. Even though the location was nice, these offerings and tricks took away some of...
