Las Panchas — Restaurant in Isla Holbox

Im just going to start this review by saying that I am a very optimistic person who never jugés before experiencing things herself, and I have experienced this so I can now say that I’m not sure to understand why this place is talked highly about here, it was not good at all.

The tacos looked and tasted like if a gringo who never set foot in Mexico tried to make tacos (with miracle whip as the sauce, iceberg lettuce, zero seasoning and just bland and gross overall), the sopa de mariscos tasted bad and not fresh, I ate one shrimp and didn’t dare finishing it and I’m glad I didn’t after reading other people’s reviews about it.

The worst part is that it wasn’t cheap, we paid over 1000$MXN for bad, not fresh food. How can Mexicans mess up Mexican food? Mexican food is in my opinion one of the best food in the world but this was just not it. We ate better tacos in the street for 30$MXN, fresh and super...

I never write negative reviews, if i get lemon i make lemonade..but yesterday i was really angy!! Several websites and the “concierge” in the hotel offered, sure ..maybe really good.. i promissed my son(4) to eat “the best seefood on the island” , because he is in love with. Walking 40 minutes, arrive 18:50. The restaurant is half full. Ok..i (((don’t)) understand they close at 19:30. In the door we are waiting for being seated ( 4 member family), one waiter comes just tells unkindly “closed” and go away..no appologies, not any nice words…if you have children you know the feeling.. the rest of my evening was full with anger and disappointment. Not becasuse there is no other restaurant, because you promiss something to a 4 yrs he beleive, you can’t change your promiss and i had to. So my post is not about the food , i don’t know, maybe it is pretty good…it’s about...

I was told this place was very good and I went due to recommendation. I might have ordered the dish that was the one I shouldn’t have. Coconut Shrimp. They might either over fried, or fried twice from and old dish or microwaved, due to shrimp where dry, and very hard to eat. I complain and waiter tried to convince me that they are made right and I told him this was not my first time eating shrimp prepared like that. Actually they tasted like when you go to a seafood restaurant and have shrimp leftovers and then you heat them the day after in your house. Asked for the check and they added tip . I just told waiter no tip will be given due to bad...
