I was looking for this restaurant due to the high rating online. It didn't disappoint us. The food is pretty good and choices are not bad either. Their tuna tartare is good and I don't get sick eating raw fish here (nor anywhere in Mexico.. so far) This place is pretty good and I'd almost give them a 5 star but there is just one thing I didn't like: they charged me a 16% on top of the total price, which I guess is tax (they did not explain it). But there's only two restaurants in my trip ever charged an additional 16% tax on top of their menu prices: the other one was definitely a scam. So I ain't sure if this is legit 16% tax or just an 'add on' to tourist. I kind of feel like it's a scam because every other single place I eat at never add anything on top of their menu prices. I didn't complain it with them because it's a small addition and I'd tip them anyway. But if this is really a tourist thing they added to their bill, I hope they won't do it again. After all, now with all these online reviews info, we tourists are not plain idiot and have a feeling of being taken advantage of is not a...
Read moreHad to check this little restaurant out after reading the reviews. 2 of our party of 3 had the Torres (volcanoes) and the third had a shrimp salad Very good! I had the volcanoe with octopus and it was super tender Thin slices of octopus that were not chewy/rubbery Mes amigoes agreed that their servings were also very good. Only complaint was that they added a 15% tip onto the bill. Seriously if they are going to charge a mandatory tip just raise the prices by 15% Did not complain because the food was good but if I were back home in Canada I would have placed the money down on the table and then said let's discuss what the tip is going to be I'm the customer and I will decide to tip what I feel is appropriate!! FYI I do usually tip at least 15% and when I feel that both the service and the food are exceptional it ends being in the 20% range Would not return to this place again because of this arrogant we are worth...
Read moreThe place has a humble shanty appearance, no running water or a/c yet prices are elevated. Yes, the flavor is there and food looks elegant, but the texture of tortilla to the shrimp does not match nor the fried tacos to the fish. It left a bitter aftertaste. Also, I had a combo of fish and rice. The rice was nicely fried. It reminds me of Filipino fried rice from my origin. The fish apart from its store name is not seafood but well seasoned nevertheless. The salad they used as topping and side is colorful and tasted like sauerkraut. A bit pretentious place, but from a seafood eating culture, one can tell the fishy ones. My advice to the owner, please learn the demographics of the area and understand tourist come for the Mayan beauty and don't bring that ignorance your ancestors brought to these beautiful natives. It's game over. We know why this beautiful country became...
