My first experience here was good as it wasn’t so busy and I recommended them to people I met asking for suggestions in Tulum but I went a second time and it wasn’t the best. Some of the servers are unprofessional and I had waited a long time for my food to then find out it wasn’t even on its way. Here’s what happened: I was seated in a timely manner despite the line of people waiting. Angel was my server and he did a great job of getting my order in right away. As I waited for my order I took out my laptop and in that moment, one of the servers had asked me to move to another table and I asked why but then they said never mind so I got up to move then sat back down. He then explained to me that I can’t use my laptop for a long period of time at the restaurant, which wasn’t very kind as I literally just sat down. I understand if I had already eaten, it was busy and I couldn’t use it but I just arrived and was waiting for my food to be served. Unfortunately I was waiting for 25 minutes and still didn’t have my food so I had asked how much longer it would take and it turns out the kitchen had missed my order. I said if it hasn’t been made to just cancel it but then I asked how long it would take. Noemi totalled my bill without me confirming what I wanted to do and it was given to me at my table. I asked her if she spoke English because I wanted to explain myself completely as I am just conversational in Spanish but she dismissed me and pointed me to Angel. I then explained to Angel my situation and asked how much longer it would take and he said approximately 10-15 minutes so I waited. The food was good but when they had closed my bill they took away my cutlery so I had waited and seen the server manually wash the fork right and then put it in the bucket to give to me after. When it came to paying for my bill, I wanted to tip with cash so I didn’t include tip when I paid with my card. The other server giggled a little after I clicked “no tip” I guess because he thought I wasn’t tipping at all for the bad service. I then gave Angel & (I forgot his name) a tip separately as they completed the service efficiently. This place has decent food for a decent price hence it being busy on a regular basis but they need to focus on providing more efficient service and professionalism. Read moreThe people the next table over were seated after us, the waiter served them first, and their food came probably 30-40 minutes before ours. We were waiting almost an hour for food. There were numerous mixup and problems with many of the other orders going out and the tables surrounding us. They do not have a good system for service.
They only gave us drinks and never asked us a thing after. They seemed to avoid us.
Our food came really late and we already wanted to go at that point. It wasn't anything special and was expensive. They didn't even care about our time, experience, or food and never asked anything about it. The staff was joking, laughing and standing around the whole time but never helped us.
The service was not worth a tip at all. And when I chose not to give one the manager was visibly upset and didn't even say anything to me, showing the true nature of their demeanor. Some French people were sitting next to us and they did not tip. Right after the manager turns to an employee and says they didn't tip in Spanish. The employee says back in a joke "the French connection". This was before our check. Extremely unprofessional and they do not deserve tips for horrible service and mediocre food. Places like this really turn me off to ever coming back to Mexico again. Gringo money...
Read moreLeaving this review not for the quality of the food but for the service and the bad experience dealing with the waiter’s mistakes and I have to say that i worked as waiter myself so I know what good service look like.
We were a grp of 4:
1- we repeated the order 4 times with the waiter to make sure we did it right. 2- We waited over 1:30 hrs for our order to come with wrong plates. Other tables were coming in after us and getting their order ahead of ours. Which only means that they messed it up big time. 3- after 1 hour waiting we complained and asked that we talk to the manager. Who only came in with no explanation and said he will solve it in 10 min but it took them 30 min. 4- 3 out of our 6 plates came with the wrong modification and when we asked the manager. He went back and brought us 2 scrambled eggs on the side 5 min later which he charged every single one. 5- they did zero effort to compensate their mistakes and we paid full bill which doesn’t really matter.
