I wish I could give minus stars. This whole experience was intimating and pretty traumatic. We waited about 1.5hours for 2 tacos and a portion of ceviche. The food was dry, cold, flavourless… and expensive. We then ordered short rib to give them a chance at a main, it took another hour to come. I was soooo thirsty (asked for water 3 times before I had to get up and go to the bar myself to get it) and tired, I actually fell asleep in my hands. When it eventually came we asked the waiter to explain what was on our plate, he said ‘one min’ and never returned. When we asked for the bill, they brought it over asking us to pay for it before the beef short rib had even arrived. We waited. It was so sweet and tepid… like day old caramel. I guess… if you’re into that kind of thing. Then came the payment issue, no Apple Pay today (even though I used it there months prior) and no other means to pay for it if no physical card was present… we tried everything, including 4 different bank transfer apps but they didn’t know their BIC number which is mandatory for international transfers. We asked for 30 mins to speak to a manager, for which they said there wasn’t one… turned out he was having a beer outside. When he realised we weren’t going to be able to pay due to their card machine fault, he was all of a sudden very much the manager. I was spoken to appallingly… an ignored, y I asked a question (such as, can we leave something of value and return tomorrow to pay?). We then had to be practically marched to a cash point and brought back to pay. The whole process took 4.5 hours. I literally can’t believe the ordeal. Please never go here and just go across the road to one of the many other brilliant places instead. Don’t be ignored, bullied and traumatised at your own very...
Read moreLocated in the heart of Tulum, I strongly recommend you to take the time to dine in this restaurant. We visited the restaurant with a group of girlfriends and we were all amazed by the overall concept of this restaurant. I live in N.Z and it is rare to find fine dining combined with affordability , service and ambiance.Truly a sensory dining experience , not just feeding your bellies.
TU is a great combination of amazing gourmet traditional dishes made with locally sourced products and home made ingredients. Cozy , classy with a funky ambience , beautifully decorated and awesome tableware and furnishing. I highly recommend this restaurant for the food (10/10), cocktails , ambiance, cosiness , presentation, safety, location & prices . Top 10 -Ribs or the Risotto . Once the dining and drinking was satisfied, I took the time to walk around and appreciate the art pieces that decorate the restaurant and was highly amazed by the authenticity and stories that the pieces convey. If you appreciate and want to learn about Mexican indigenous history , take the time to chat to the staff or even better if you have a chance to chat with the owner , you will learn as much as you may learn by visiting a local museum or chatting to a tour guide. Thank you TU Restaurant for hosting us and gifting us with an...
Read moreI had to leave a review for this restaurant after they were so kind and accommodated a group of 12 of us an hour and half after our scheduled reservation. The day of our reservation, our house lost power and all signal, and we weren’t able to contact the restaurant or any taxi services all day until we were moved to a new airbnb with wifi. At this point we weren’t able to get a cab until an hour after our originally scheduled reservation (and we had a large party of 12). The folks at Tu were so so kind to us and let us come late to the restaurant. They greeted us with free mezcal shots. The food was delicious and beautifully plated. We ordered 4 appetizers, at least 6 bottles of wine, and main courses for everyone and it only ended up being about $60usd per person, which we thought was incredibly well priced for the amount and quality of food we had. The restaurant is so cute with a little window to peak into the cooks in the kitchen. It also had great vegan options for our group. The risotto was one of the best risottos I’ve ever had in my life! Also, at one point, a musician came in and played us some live music, which was unexpected but fun. Thanks again Tu for a great last night...
